Nordonia 34 Tallmadge 28 Final

Yappi

Go Buckeyes
Great game tonight from two very good teams. It was an offensive explosion in the first half. Score was Nordonia 31-21 at the intermission. Turned into a defensive game in the second half as scores were hard to come by. Tallmadge scored 1 TD and Nordonia with a FG. Nordonia held onto win a late comeback attempt as the Knights gained a first down by inches on a 4th down play with around a minute to play.

The Nordonia football team’s high-scoring offense was slowed by an injury Friday night against visiting Tallmadge.

Senior quarterback Tyler Alders had the Knights rolling as usual, but then sprained his left ankle in the second quarter. He missed one series, returned to the game and contributed admirably as a passer and runner but he was limited.

The Knights needed junior running back Jordan Nobles and their defensive unit to step up. Nordonia coach Jeff Fox got just that as the Knights defeated the Blue Devils 34-28 at Boliantz Stadium.

That was not the case Friday when Nordonia was forced to make an offensive switch, yet went on to defeat visiting Tallmadge, 34-28, in a meeting of Suburban League leaders that had a number of big-play touchdowns.

The Knights, arguably the surprise team of Northeastern Ohio football in 2012, had to switch gears when quarterback Tyler Alders sprained his left ankle just before halftime and the Knights on top, 31-21.
