oh my god who caresssssssssUnpopular Take: If your school cannot field a band with at least 25 kids playing instruments, you should not be able to field a football team. Instruments that cannot be used when marching do not count.

Mods please move this take to the band forum. Oh yea??? THERE ISN'T ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GTFO.Unpopular Take: If your school cannot field a band with at least 25 kids playing instruments, you should not be able to field a football team. Instruments that cannot be used when marching do not count.
I would disagree with that... The band is a large part of the experience when attending a game.Other than the parents of the band, no one cares about the band.
So, are they really schools in the educational sense? We know that marching band students outperform football players academically. We also know that based on dollars alone, band outperforms football in investment vs outcome. More band members graduate college and earn advanced degrees. What do those playoff stats do for the students?Other than the parents of the band, no one cares about the band. When you look up the playoff stats it doesn't say *no band for those schools that don't have one.
You obviously weren't in the band! What are you talking about?
Did you comment on both? The only thread dumber than this is the "retire the 3rd down Hell's Bells" thread.
Stupid take. "Sorry boys, I know you've dreamed about playing football for us since you were in pee wee flag football, but we don't have enough flute players in the school....it's over boys."Did you comment on both?
If you’re gonna base something on dollars, the band brings in 0 dollars for a school, and a good football program brings money inSo, are they really schools in the educational sense? I know of a school where this is a common occurrence.I also laugh when the band parents leave after halftime of a good close game.
Doesn't it start with the parent's dream for the kid? I thought I read that Massilon peeps put footballs in the baby cribs at the hospital. Since learning music vastly improves brain function, wouldn't it be better for the kid's future to put an instrument in there instead?Stupid take. I participated in music from 2nd grade through graduation. Participated in drama and debate also. Still not sure what your point is. I like marching bands! What are you complaining about exactly? You obviously weren't in the band!
This is even more funny Massillon has an exceptional music program.Doesn't it start with the parent's dream for the kid? So Band parents don't buy tickets to the game or buy food or drink from the concession stand or buy programs and tickets for the 50 / 50 raffle .?If you’re gonna base something on dollars, the band brings in 0 dollars for a school, and a good football program brings money in
You need band to be a high performing educational school? So, are they really schools in the educational sense? We know that marching band students outperform football players academically. There is no universe where kids, writ large, make off with better academic prospects because they’re in band compared to those who are not.So, are they really schools in the educational sense? Not even close to the amount for football. Do you think football games wouldn’t make money if the band wasn’t there? That’s laughableSo Band parents don't buy tickets to the game or buy food or drink from the concession stand or buy programs and tickets for the 50 / 50 raffle .?
You could definitely argue that a band improves the academic performance of your school...can't say the same for football. You need band to be a high performing educational school?
