NFL to play in Brazil

These International Series games are getting a little out of control. What two teams would want to spend time in Brazil to play a game. Soon, we'll see games in Australia, Japan and South Africa...

The NFL is very popular in Brazil, more popular than in the UK, I believe. Surprised they haven't played there before.

The NFL will soon be going from 4 to 8 international games a year. Thus each NFL team will be required to play one international game every four years. A potential 18th regular season game may be each teams international game.

There is talk the NFL will package an 8 game 9:30am kickoff of Europe games at the next national tv negotiations. This will probably be another $1 billion a year tv deal for the NFL.

NFL teams have marketing rights to various countries. Example: The Miami Dolphins have Brazil & Spain. This makes sense since a lot of foreign $$$ resides in Miami. Pittsburgh has Ireland because of the Rooney’s Irish roots.

With the gambling bump the NFL has experienced they at some point will have saturated their viewing interest here in the US. I believe the international expansion will be the next phase of future NFL growth.
