Well, St. Xavier (pronounced ZAVIER, not X-Zavier, as I painfully heard by an announcer at a meet this season) & Virginia's Nathan Mountain, set a recent steeple best overseas (Grenoble, FRA) at 8:14.43. I wonder if this is the fastest steeple by an Ohioan? I'm not up on all-time Ohioan bests, so maybe someone else can chime in on this one? Anyway, this bodes well for Mr. Mountain!

Yeah, Croghan of Green HS near Akron, and later at Ohio State, ran in 4 World Championships & 3 Olympic games.

Mountain is on his way to also having a solid career in the steeplechase. I am fairly certain that Mountain is still in Charlottesville and may have one season of XC eligibility remaining.
