The baseball playoffs start tonight with the wild card one game play ins. Where are you at when it comes to the baseball playoffs???

Baseball has a problem when a lifelong fan like me isn't interested in investing 4 1/2 hours in a playoff game. If it was my team (Reds) I'm all in, otherwise, I'm out. Ridiculous that a 9 inning pitchers duel takes 4:15 to finish. Game ended at about 12:30am. They need the pitch clock and other rule changes.

Highlights in the morning is enough for me...

The issue is the pitching rules are in place, the umpires and others in power choose to not enforce. Baseball sold it soul to the devil by taking all the money from the networks and they rule things.

Pitch clock rules are in place in the MLB?

The networks don't want pitchers taking 45-60 seconds per pitch, and viewers tuning out after 4 innings. Faster innings means more commercials being viewed quickly. Not sure what your point is.

Umpires in 2021, or in 1976 have the ability to keep games moving --They simply choose not to. The whole minor league pitch clock thing was a hoax. Minor leaguers are not in the CBA so baseball can implement whatever rules they want for them. Somehow, pitchers who were in the minors the last few years could work with a 20 second pitch clock that now, as major leaguers they have to take 30-40 seconds between pitches.

Honestly: Dont care too much. By this time I am well over baseball.
Once it gets to the WS I may check the score every once in awhile but other than that....nah

Concur.

Playoff baseball games grind to a halt. During the regular season maybe late in a tie game we may see the closers working very slowly, but in the postseason it seems like that slow down starts in the first inning.

Just way to slow of a game for me, especially in the post season.

Well you definitely won't like today...4 baseball games back to back. It's funny though in baseball it's very difficult to time up games, so they all overlap to a certain degree. For instance, the White Sox / Astros are going on now, with the Braves/ Brewers set to go at 4:30. It may be in the 6th inning for the start of that game.

Eh.
Its Friday.
Football game this evening. Post game highlights and then likely a replay of a different local game.
Just no time for any baseball!

Got a good one going now, White Sox have taken a 4-2 lead on the Astros. I'd like to see this series go 6 or 7. The AL is really up for grabs in my opinion. I don't know that any team is better than the others. The Rays and Astros have a little more experience than the Red Sox and White Sox.

In the NL, the Dodgers have to have a nod over the others. Even though the Giants have played great all year, they have limited playoff experience outside of Posey and Crawford.

I'd have to check the stats, but the odds of a best of 5 series going 6 or 7 games are very slim. It almost never happens.

Dodgers-Giants the only one to go the distance. Shouldn't be surprising considering we're dealing with 107 and 106 regular season dubs, respectively.

Certainly not saying the Giants would've scored in the bottom of the 9th, but what a pathetic ending. Not sure why the catcher even appealed to the 1B umpire, batter barely took the bat off his shoulder. And for the 1B ump to call it a strike, what did he possibly see to make him think that was a swing?

Umpire had late dinner reservations - time to go. Or stars in his eyes because almighty Max was pitching.

What absolutely terrible call to end this series. That ump should be ashamed and never allowed to ump another MLB game, what a complete f’n failure.
yea, because Flores was going to hit the next pitch out of the park? How 2021 is it of fans to whine after their team blows a 2-1 games lead, scores 3 runs in their last 18 innings and then complain on a bad check swing call. Giants scored 10 runs in 5 games, they are lucky it went 5.

Im not a fan of either team, but it was an absolutely terrible call. Flores probably does strike out, but you never know, maybe Scherzer hangs a breaking ball out over the plate and he hits a walkoff. The guy who hit the Giants HR played the last 5 yrs in Korea, unknown guys come up big all the time in these situations

Doesn't have to hit the ball out of the park dumb arse..... but just given a chance, a chance that was taken away from him. The last out of every play off game should be reviewed regardless...... the technology is there.

Beginning of the year the REDS were suppose to have a better season than the GIANTS and once again the REDS fluttered while the GIANTS went way beyond expectations. MLB has the stupidest playoff format and this one game wildcard game is complete BS. Play best of 7 every round. Start the playoffs earlier and play 9 inning double header games on Sunday's. If the pathetic lazy current MLB players can't survive a season then be gone with it. It had been played a certain way for many many years prior to the wussification of America. STOP protecting pitchers.... there are more injuries now then back when they pitched every 4 days and threw well over a 100 pitches.

I dont hate baseball, per se in the poll but man....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
Ive already watched more NHL hockey this year and MLB.
Older I get, the less I get into watching MLB. Just is...too slow. Playoff baseball moves at the pace of a 9th inning tie game regular season game.
Late game regular season close games when the closers/set up guys in the game seem to grind to a halt between each pitch. Somewhat tolerable as it is already late in the close game, but postseason baseball that deliberate play is seemingly from the start and it lost me years ago.

Managers who outsmart themselves are a big part of the problem in the playoffs. Quick hooks for even the best starting pitchers, leads to a parade of relievers and pitching changes. Thus games last 4-5 hours. Intolerable.

Glad to hear that the Dodgers lost again, but you have Max freaking Sherzer on the mound, and you yank him after 4 2/3 innings because he gave up a couple runs? If the guys in your bullpen were better than Max, they would be in somebody's rotation. Serves Roberts right.

You should definitely apply for the next open manager or GM position

I feel the need to say this again, Analytics are good, but should not overrule common sense. Why even hire a Mgr if you’re going to make EVERY decision based on a Computer Program? I still can’t believe Cash pulled Snell in Game 6 last yr. That’s one of those times where a Mgr had to use his eyes & intuition to recognize his Ace is in a groove and pitching above his mean.

Thanks, I might do that. They have lots of bridges in Pittsburgh, they almost certainly could use a troll to live under one of them, you should apply.

Im going to email my fellow CFA Dic Williams and see what he can do.
