Minster (11-2) vs Marion Local (13-0)

The last time ML got beat was - in large part - due to a blocked punt. Special Teams is a very huge advantage in the MAC. As was said, you need to find and capitalize on every possible advantage you can get. I think that goes a long way in the MAC's success against out-of-conference games - or at least another cog in the machine.

a blocked punt that was returned for at TD late in the game for the go ahead score if I recall.......corrrect?

He preficed by saying if Stokes was the coach then Minster would win, neglecting the fact that the coach with the most state titles in history and a sure fire hall of famer is on the other side.
Im fairly certain Minster is doing alright in the coaching arena no matter who is on the other side. The apple didnt fall far from that tree and both the apple and the tree are over there.....

I think you're missing my point. I'm not saying anything bad about Whiting. His dad was legendary and he's done very well in his own right.

As for apple falling from the tree. Goodwins dad was a hall of fame coach in his own right so there's an apple and tree on both sides.

The original quote was Minster WOULD win this with Stokes on the sideline. Meanwhile Stokes for the most part had trouble beating the man on the opposite sideline. The points is I'm saying using the coach as an example as to why Minster would win this game isn't probably the best way to argue that in this case. Minsters players are just gonna have to plain outplay MLs players because ML won't be outcoached.

so if the steiner boys are outplayed. wouldn't that have something with Goodwin being outcoached?

Not necessarily. Minster could force some fumbles, pick a couple passes off etc. That's not really a reflection of coaching. If minster just dominates then yes

As always Voice, you are correct! NB caught some breaks that night, but I think the biggest thing was that Senior and Junior class at NB believed they could win. Often, against MSML kids are convinced the game is over before they step off the bus.

In the subsequent drive a Steiner WR made one of the most incredible catches I've seen in HS.
So incredible it was called incomplete and ya didn't even think twice about...until they showed a replay and it was like...did he catch that? No way...another replay and yep...
...he did!

That blocked punt it was a total botched blocking assignment as the 2 blockers I believe the the other was gonna block him.

But I digress l
.

Do we think Minster wins the title if they win?

We need a MAC title and MSML I trust to finish the deal

Is HoF diff for baseball and football?
Coach Harlamert, God Rest His Soul, was inducted 8 months prior to his passing and woulda been 50-51 when inducted.

Miss ya buddy.

Minster is really good, but for the Cats to win this game against a historically strong Marion squad Knouff is going to have to be at noticeably less than 100% and Minster must win the turnover battle or have a big special teams play (or both).

I'll say 20-7 ML in a hard fought contest that is closer than any game Marion has played since the Versailles nail biter last year in week 8 I believe.

Good luck to both schools.

Homan said he kept going outside all night and kept setting up that he was going to go outside every time. When it was time, he went out and when the blocker moved, he bounced in and had a clear line to the punter.

I heard Bill Cowher was looking at houses in the area..
I know this is a joke... but how cool would that be for a small school to end up with anyone with a pro resume... Disney may finally start filming the movie about the Flyers.... Who plays Goodwin?! I say Will Poulter plays Knouf ... Gotta have Miles Teller as the inspirational graduate that returns for the halftime speech when the game is on the line!

I remember him saying that he set the blocker up by going outside every time until the last one. There was also a questionable helmet to helmet call late in the game, I thought it was the same play that Voice referenced but not positive. That game and the following week against LCC were two of the better High School football games I’ve been to.
