Listeners of 97.1 the fan in Columbus, specifically to the Man and Bone show...

MSML made their Yikes segment today...with a number if errors.

Stated they won their 15th title....and their program just started to play football in...1999.

Then said they ti3d either Coldwater or kirtlands record for playoff appearance in a tow at 24...

So...a couple of.mistakes. CW is at 28 in a row I believe and msml playing longer than 25 yrs.

IYKYK...I may nominate them for tool of the week Friday.

Being that we're way out here in the sticks, all that info may still be running through the phone cord and not updated yet.

Coldwater's Chip Otten told the team while in Canton that he plans to return in 2025 and see this Junior class compete. I think he may be taking it year by year. The 7th grade class has some serious size and talent. All the coaches are looking forward to experiencing the class of 2030.
Obviously you never know how things will play out, but that 7th grade team is talented.

the VOICE told me that the upcoming Soccer program will take at least 2/3 of those boys by the time they are juniors....

Seriously? Didn't hear the whole fat boy food tip today! That's hilarious.

If ur a listener of them ya prolly long their dislike of Herbie. U see a Twitter battle between Bone and some radio stiff from Cleveland regarding herbie?

its a great show... starts at 6am...97.1 the FAN....

you can only listen to WSCM so long......
Man and Bone is good...from 3-6 the fan is great radio.

The rest of the time when they are slobbering over the buckeyes is, as Mr. MONNIN SAYS, is garbage.

When did the MAC schools start football individually?
I know Anna was the most recent. Just wondering about the rest.
TIA

St. Henry started the program in 1972.
Coldwater 1936
Marion Local 1956 though Maria Stein St. John was playing before that
Fort Recovery 1991
New Bremen 1972
Delphos St. John 1955
Anna 2000
Parkway 1961

Kind of hard to find this info. Cannot find definitive info on Minster or Versailles.

I bought a football program at Versailles several years ago and all the seasons and records are in it. I still have it but no idea where.

My father in law played for the original Marion Local/ St John's team. He graduated in 49 and his yearbook says they got a new coach in 48 so, no later than 1947.

They played and practiced behind the old St John's building across from the church. I remember him saying the boundaries of the field included part of the ball diamond. Also the whole thing was a fenced in cow pasture behind the school. They didn't, in general, make all of the practices, due to farmwork. Anyway, all practices and games started with the cows being run home (first house south Wendelin/ Mescher farm) Then began the pattie removal (AKA the OG of pre gaming and pre workout).

From his yearbook, it says, two a day practices started on August 23rd.

I also remember a story about a game ( I believe with Minster ???) where it had rained so much that there were puddles all over the field, 6 inches deep. They made a pre game, gentlemen's agreement to not pile on, along with actively getting each other up, especially if they landed face down. Those were the leather helmet, no face mask days.
Of course, then try to kill one another on the next play...

you sure the Steiners didn't water their field the whole day to have a muddy field.... or maybe that was Coldwater, been such a long time ago, hard to remember

Even after moving into the new high school in 1958 (which is still the current hs), Marion played their football games at the field across from the church through the 1964 season I believe.

I think it was 1965 when Booster Field was first used. I attended my first hs football game there in '72 or '73.

I can remember attending a game at Minster's old stadium - and at SH's original stadium (though I don't know where the old SH stadium was).

He's only 53 so highly unlikely. He's made comments that he's just out there having fun on the journey now. If I'm a betting man, I bet he coaches til 60 and retires from coaching then as principal a couple years later.
Keeping my fingers crossed
