Michigan vs Alabama

Right, but that isn't the same thing as you saying he would be picked in the first 10 picks. I guess you meant to say that in your opinion he should be taken within the first 10 picks.
This is an opinion forum. I didn't realize that EVERY time someone gives an opinion, that we must state: in my opinion. Ok then. Thanks for the heads up and have a great rest of the week.

Do they? Does a national championship game mean the same as beating some high school team 100 years ago? I'm guessing you never played a sport if you actually think every game means the same.
So are you saying that Championships won by say the Yankees in 1927, 1928. The Celtics in 1959, 1960. 2 of the greatest franchise in their sports don't mean as much as championship in 2023? And then if the Yankees have a total of 27 championships, they got to 27 by winning 27 times. Number 27 doesn't happen if number 1,2,3, etc... never happen. They all count and mean the same to the teams, the league that recognizes the championships. But again, your OPINION, which you didn't state was your opinion, you can decide which ones mean more. Let's just leave it that your opinion is some years the championships mean more than other years. And my opinion is that all the championship years for a team mean the same. CHAMPIONSHIP. Thanks for the OPINION.

They didn't have outright National championship games back then. But National Champions were CROWNED and recognized in history forever by the NCAA. Your coach that liked to punch opposing players Woody Woodpecker won 5 Natty's. Do those count or not?
Of course they counted. But you seem to continue to miss the point that the voted for championships are all you guys have. The rest of college football has moved on from those, while Michigan is left in the past. And I don't mean just a little in the past, you are 75 years in the past, that is an entire lifetime of being average to below average for Michigan. Meanwhile Ohio State has been competing for and and winning outright national titles.

And you miss the point that they ALL count. So we will just agree to disagree. Thanks for the banter. I no longer have any interest in going back and forth with you on this topic. Have a great day.

Michigan, who basically played no one all year except Ohio State, can’t be feeling particularly enthused by the SEC’s #3 team vanquishing Ohio State.

I already thought Bama was going to hammer mich. Now watching ole.miss beat up psu, I'm more convinced than ever that mich can head back NY6 and playoff winless streaks intact

They feel extremely confident and ready. They are healthy for the first time in quite a while. (except losing Zak Zinter - OL). Especially JJ McCarthy. What is going on in the "meaningless, opt out bowls" has NOTHING to do with Bama vs. Michigan. Also PSU and the suckeyes played without QB's. Hard to move the ball with no QB. Their QB's are not JJ. You are trying to compare apples to oranges. Michigan has everything necessary to beat Bama and win it all. They are a very veteran team. They have all their players. (minus Zinter). They are the most talented team Harbaugh has ever had. They are an extremely tight, galvanized and motivated team. It's more like Bama has it's hands full with Michigan. PSU and the suckeyes: 1. had many opt outs. 2. were not really that motivated for their games. And I don't blame them. The only real unknown factor is turnovers. And no one knows how that will go. Michigan IS motivated and IS going to go toe to toe with Bama and will not back down at all. It will be a great game. But in the end, Michigan wins. Go Blue!

Yeah, I am guilty of using that disclaimer, but I have found if you do not, you will be asked to provide a link. Opinions and critical thinking seem to be discouraged not only on Yappi, but the entire web.

Does watching Maryland hammer the Auburn team that came within a miracle play of beating Alabama give Alabama fans something to worry about?

News flash... Nobody gives a damn about Maryland, and Auburn, besides their own fans.

I'd say no. Look at the auburn game the week before Bama. Transitive property usually doesn't work, but my gut before this was nobody has really gone toe to toe with Saban in the playoff matchups minus clemson and that osu game. And I still think the mich team last year was stronger. I still think Bama by 14-17

Did anyone care about last nights game … really the bowl games are useless … even my wife noticed that my enthusiasm for last nights game was minimal … didn’t hurry to get back from a family event to see the start of the game … i was just trying to be sarcastic about the meaning of these bowl games when comparing teams based off these bowl games … kinda silly.

Any enthusiasm I had, which was not matching a regular season game, quickly disappeared after the first series. Then the dual root canal set in

I think this game could go either way … the times I have seen Alabama this year … good but not elite … I think get the benefit of the doubt based mostly on past history of both teams … theirs is good and Michigan’s is not … I do think McCarthy is a gamer who tends to play plays when they are most needed … Alabama’s QB has been wildly inconsistent … should make it an entertaining game.

Sorry, misunderstood your sarcasism. I do agree, that only 3 games matter right now. Next year you will have 7 meaningful bowl games, and then the other 4 playoff games

I’ll agree with you on Maryland, but Auburn has a modern national title (2010), another title game appearance (2013), and generally is pretty good or at least competent, so I care about them.

Was mainly talking about this year. 6-6, and Maryland 7-5, are just 500, middle of the pack teams

Prediction: Tomorrow night we’ll all be asking why Georgia got left out of the playoff in favor of Michigan.
I love when Bama beat Georgia and Georgia was pushed out of the playoffs. I 100% believe Michigan can/will beat Bama. Georgia is the team that got hosed. The Wolverines truly benefited from that SEC title game upset. Possibly the best or 2nd best team in college football is not in the playoffs. Georgia 100% belonged in. Go Blue!!

You might, but your bias clouds your judgement. Of course they should be in the Playoff. They're ranked #1. The debate would have never been Michigan or Georgia.

The 4 team playoff was always imperfect, this is just another example, but we already knew this, and didn't need to see what Georgia did today to confirm that.

I 100% agree. If Georgia would have won the SEC, Georgia, Michigan, Washington were in. # 4 would have been the "great debate". Either way, Georgia was really the team that got screwed, not Fla. St.

Don't bet your house, you may not have a place to live. Unlike the "opt out/meaningless" bowls, It's going to be a good/great game. And Michigan absolutely has a very good chance to win this game and advance. Can NOT lose the turnover battle. Go Blue!

1997. The coaches voted for Nebraska because they wanted Tom Osborne to go out with a natty. 1997 was his last year coaching. Imagine that. Michigan was the 1997 National Champions. So not a joke to Michigan. They have a trophy. Since you are comparing Michigan's titles to Massillon's titles, that means that in your mind every team that won a National Title in college football during the poll era are bogus. Ok then. By the way- head to head: Michigan 61-51-6. Do all of those go away as well. Have a great evening.
Fulmer also put the screws to UM because his boy, who came back to win the Heisman, was beat out to 1st primary Defensive player to win the award. Woodson made plays from 3 sides of the ball. And, as it turned out, Woodson is arguably the best player to hail from Ohio. Double whammy to Scarlet and Gray fans

"Before Stalions' resignation, McCarthy was completing 78.1% of his passes and averaging 225 passing yards per game with 18 touchdowns to one interception. After Stalions' resignation, McCarthy threw only one touchdown pass while completing 68.6% of his passes while averaging 166 passing yards per game in the final five games of the season."
🤔

He was actually hurt. He is healthy now. He's a stud and you would love to have him. But you have no Qb.

Why?

It has nothing to fo with Michigan when aOSU is 2-13 alltime against the SEC in Bowls

Worst record against SEC in Bowls. Only reason to win #1 was because Buckeyes could still smell the Michigan on Ryan Mallot
