Mentor Football 2025

He got me to tout Eds so up is down and down is up today. I can't show my face at 30th and Lorain. Columbus public schools are gonna dominate D1 sports is my prognosis.
He's been banned from our thread in past years. That's pretty tough to do on a message board. He really has hatred for many schools. Mentor is just one of them.

Trust me, we all wish we never had to hear from him. He might go back on ignore soon

Well Mentor does that about as well as any high performing public football school in the state. Competing with open enrollment publics and privates like you support

It's very ironic how you are doing this diatribe once again based on a rumor on a message board that didn't happen. And again, the rumored kid grew up in and lives in Mentor. He wasn't going to have to move ...

Once again you like to concentrate on the transfers in but not out. It's what you do

Also never ceases to amaze me how obtuse you are in attacking a closed enrollment public school program that is about as home grown as you'll find. While you support private schools with kids from all different cities ...

Your argument changes by the school though. You like to start stuff all over and it honestly just shows how miserable of a person you truly are
Wow feelings kinda hurt…. Yep kinda hurt….. snap I’m already over it….

Okay I’ll try really hard, I mean I’ll really really try. Like next year I’ll come to a Mentor game and root real hard for them and applaud the state championship culture that’s so prominent in that building.
Just proving my point. The trolling points change depending on the school . The fact that you feel the need to do so on a message board towards at least a handful of schools says it all.

Sad little man.

I think we'd like the opposite though. You obviously hate Mentor. We don't like you either. So ignore us and focus on your private schools who draw from all over in every sport

So kind of like your basketball team??? Players from all over the area? Right??

Yawn. You choose to focus on a blip of 3 years with a handful of guys coming to Mentor. Nevermind all the other years where that didn't happen

Also conveniently ignore all those who have left Mentor. 2 kids left for Lutheran West this year. Didn't hear a thing from you.

Our only player to make the NBA after college? Lost his senior year to Montverde Academy. Never heard you mention that

The privates get kids from all over in everything. The open enrollments do this a ton too. And the inner ring publics do way more with transfers than Mentor. You sound really stupid acting like it's the norm.

This is what you do. You are miserable so you change your trolling tactics depending on the school

Can't rip Mentor for being a bad city or school district. Gotta target no football title while ignoring how well they've done with closed enrollment

Can't rip basketball for never winning a title because they did so with no transfers. So let's target a blip on the radar and act like it's the norm

With others who have won titles you focus on bad school systems or recruiting despite you supporting two schools who build all sports every year from all over

Sad little man

Truth, I really have to respect Mentor. They have accomplished more than 99 percent of public schools in Ohio. They are a good community with a solid school system. That’s the truth!!!

Any updates on how the starting lineup is looking for this year ? How is the QB battle looking ?
Mentor always has solid to outstanding QB play. They have years where have a talented player that is young and developing. In those years they lean on a balanced attack with a good running game and quick passing game. I expect that to be the same this year as they break in a young starter but have an outstanding OL. Also Coach Gray is a very good play caller so that helps.

Is the Week 1 game with Olmsted Falls just a one-off? If so, has Mentor filled Week 1 for 2026 and 2027 with a home and home with someone. I know at one point they were looking, but I don’t believe they are anymore.

It's a 2 game agreement

2025 in Olmsted Falls
2026 in Mentor

What else did you hear?

From what we know, Erie McDowell falls off after 2025. St Ignatius shifted from week 2 to 3 this year so not sure which they will go in for 2026 and beyond

I just recall at one time Mentor was looking for a Week 1 home and home. I didn’t realize Falls was home and home. I thought maybe it was just a one time thing.

Avon is looking for Week 2 in 2026 and 2027. I didn’t think Mentor was open, though.

I talk to our AD once and awhile but am not in the loop on decisions or anything.

St Ignatius has been in week 2 for a very long time. They moved for 2025 to help us get McDowell for a 2 year contract as they had an opponent in week 3 for 2025

So maybe they move back to week 2 in 2026 or maybe McDowell is extended?

No idea but can always tell your AD to check in with ours

Besides Ignatius being consistent, schools will usually only schedule us for one series out of conference. I expect Olmsted falls will be the same way but who knows

Would be great if he makes the team:

“Luke Floriea continues to impress in the slot. Gives the Browns a different type of receiver. Has a real chance to make this team,” Cleveland.com’s Lance Reisland shared.

Good for Colin! Three guys on the offensive line this year with DI college in their future blocking for a returning All-Ohio RB. Going into the season, the run game is clearly the strength of the team. Prichard is an important part of that.
I agree the run game is the strength with regards to one of the best olines in the state and J Farley. What concerns me is the depth behind Farley as I've heard that Dom Burns may not be playing this year. So who is the back up? Cant afford to wear down Farley. But I also know we can't put alot of pressure on Brogan to carry a heavy load at qb with one proven wr. So where do we find the balance? Hodge in wildcat? Young RB that is currently an unknown??

If anyone knows how is the rest of the GCC looking this year? I think Mentor is the overwhelming favorite right now to win it, but I haven't seen much about anyone else in the league. Good luck to the Cardinals this upcoming season! I hope to catch a game this year!

No idea here. I go by what the parents or those connected say every preseason. Can't really form my opinions until I see a few games as I don't follow junior high or JV levels.

Maybe more of them will chime in as the season gets closer

Im pretty plugged in. I have a kid who graduates this year. I'll post non controversial info as it comes up. As a group the staff and team are high on what could be this year. June camp is next week so some things should start to become clearer at the end of next week.

My top three favorites are Mentor, Strongsville, and Cleveland Heights

Cleveland Heights may have lost their coach, but they have enough athletes to compensate. Strongsville is continuing to make strides forward, and they have linebacker Storm Miller, who recently committed to Texas A&M.

I agree with this list. Cleveland Heights may be a sleeper. The got Jamarcus Greenwood (transfer from glenville) this spring. He's an upgrade over anything they had the last 2 years. The new coaching staff brings a ton of next level +1 experience. They will look vastly different. What that amounts to is yet to be seen.

Strongsville Id say is #2 behind Mentor. Solid program. Will build off of last year's success. Just didn't have the horses to play with mentor. But the system is there and they have bought in to Trusniks toughness.

Additionally, I think spots 4 and 5 will be for Lorain and Euclid, respectively. Lorain won't be an instant contender, but they won't be a pushover either. Euclid is on the upswing, and they have a rising Division I prospect in Kei'Shjuan Telfair.

While I think Mentor will win the GCC, I don’t think it’s too crazy to say they could find themselves in a hairy situation and may have a close call against one of these two. Last year Strongsville beat up on the GCC outside of Mentor and Brunswick, they should have a lot of momentum and a great foundation to try and win 7+ games.

Cleveland Heights is a team that always seems to play tough. Know a few guys who use to play there, they have great athletes. Quite an underrated football school.

I’ll be interested to see how Lorain does in GCC play in year 1. It’s a huge step up over what the LEL has been the last few years.. but they absolutely have the enrollment to compete. It’s been about three years since we’ve last seen them play a GCC team.

I briefly reviewed the All-Ohio and All-district returning players for the GCC and it appears promising for the league as a whole.

Mentor having the most.

Looks like we need a GCC thread for 2025. That would make sense if people care

Going back to the thread topic, is anyone challenging Brogan for the QB job or is it just his for sure?

Thought we had a few good QBs coming up through the system?

Maybe @Cardgrad90 or @OnceACard or others can enlighten me on the QB battle and what is coming up
