hasn't it always been the case that the lowest economic class are the ones that enlist or are drafted?

the rich always find a way to avoid military service. they're nobody's fools.

military recruiters main selling point is earning money for college education post service.

Private Bone Spurs being a case in point of the well off finding a way to avoid the military.

It was not true when there was a draft even if the rich guys like Trumps daddy were able to get him out of it.

Listen, I am not trying to rip on cops but there is a portion of the population who are violent by nature a'holes who only get a badge because they think it will allow them to legally bully. You are not being honest if you can't admit as much.

Nobody is defunding. Biden has done more to fund police than any recent president.

It's not about attracting rich people. It about weeding out the bad apples that come from a demographic that has a lot of them given that criminality is usually driven by economics.

I'm a professional (by education) but I was raised in a blue collar suburb...and I currently live in a cop/fireman neighborhood. They aren't perfect...far from it...and, as I've mentioned in the past, I think they should have a height requirement (to weed out "little man's syndrome"), but...

I know lots of cops, even in a tough city like Cleveland, who CHOSE the job...who prefer it to certain other jobs (maybe even higher on the food chain) that are more mundane (boring, even). It's a very, very interesting job, and frequently a very rewarding job and it attracts SOME great people and SOME who fit your very low impressions, but, overall, I work on the other side of cops in the courtroom but admire MOST of them.

As someone else mentioned, your comment suggests you don't know cops. It sounds cartoonish (your comments)...

I don't know a bunch but certainly a few. Part of my comments come from an overall view based on 30 years of building organizations. 10% of every org sucks at their job and the next 10 are barely competent at best. That goes for teachers, as well. The issue is that the bottom rung for cops is getting increasingly worse and the issues are not just indifferent and lazy it is often corrupt and violent. Again, you are not honest with yourself if you don't acknowledge what is pretty darn obvious.

Which is not even close to what happened in this case. They could have easily cuffed him. I watched the video. It is obvious.

No but I would say that close to that number are bad at their job and many of those that suck certainly get off exercising their authority.
