Mater Dei - Servite on tv tonight

funny how a thread about mater dei and servite turned into a chest thumping thread for slc

daditis the hijack king

Do you realize you just made an incredibly goofy post. Three posters (including YOU) brought SLC into this thread LONG before I mentioned them. LOL

haha whats up with that I remember when my high school in texas played them freshman year they all had bleach blonde hair except for Newton and the other black kid.

It's a "high schoolish" team unity thing.

Frankly, I love SLC's black pants they wear for the playoffs. However, I could do without the bleached hair. We have enough women in Southlake with blond hair. We don't need to football team to do it also.

you have 14 posts in this thread about Mater Dei and Servite

in not one of the posts do you mention mater dei or servite

all 14 posts are about slc

HIJACKER

:

SLC is not a heavy passing team in terms of play calling. This year SLC is running much more than passing. Over the years SLC's play calling is about 50-50 run/pass.

I'm wondering why the comparison to SLC? What about all of the other great teams in the country? Woody, do you have SLC on the brain?

I have no doubt that SLC could play with ANY team in the country right now. We would LOVE a rematch with MNW and would welcome the chance to play any/all of the other great national teams.

Last night SLC blew away Richland. The score was 37-0 by half time.

A few noteworthy points:
1. Tre Newton got hurt. He limped badly off the field in the first half and didn't return to the sidelines after halftime. Don't know how bad it is.
2. Blake Cantu also got hurt in the first half. He came back to the sidelines in the second half without pads.
3. SLC kicked a 48 yard FG. The kick had 5-10 yards more distance.
4. SLC's all-state linebacker, Derek Tomlin, played about 1/3 of the game after being injured for most of the season.
5. The pee-wee football players have already dyed their hair blond. Almost anybody and everybody who plays football in Southlake will become blond this week. SLC's first round playoff game is against Flower Mound (6-4) at 6:00 pm Friday night at Texas Stadium. SLC is playing in 5A Div 2.

WHERE IS THE MATER DEI SERVITE INFO????????????????????

WHERE IS THE MATER DEI SERVITE INFO????????????????????

LOL Is there MORE you want to say about Mater Dei and Servite? What do you want to add about them?

Can you explain the four posts about SLC on this thread before I posted anything? Your Honor, it seems the door was opened so I drove a truck through it.

LOL Is the MORE you want to say about Mater Dei and Servite? What do you want to add about them?

if you dont have anything relative to add about the thread

STAY OUT OF IT

if you want to post about pee wee football slc blonde dyed hair, make a new thread

IT DOES NOT BELONG IN A MATER DEI SERVITE THREAD

QUIT HIJACKING THREADS OR USING ANOTHER POSTER'S ONE LINE AS AN EXCUSE TO MAKE POST AFTER POST ABOUT SLC

LOL Is the MORE you want to say about Mater Dei and Servite? What do you want to add about them?

in th three way coin flip for trinity league seeds for the pac 5 playoffs

servite won the first coin toss and will be #1 trinity league seed

Orange lutheran by virtue of its head to head victory over mater dei gets the #2 seed

mater dei, a national top 5 most of the year, gets the #3 trinity league seed and some unfortunate team that gets the #1 seed from another league will get mater dei as their first round opponent

OUCH

I'm wondering why you responded to me at least SIX TIMES before you got concerned? Others responded at least a dozen times. What took you so long? Can you explain that?

Is this different from the state tournament, or is it similar to the regional alignments that the Ohio playoff system has?

Is this different from the state tournament, or is it similar to the regional alignments that the Ohio playoff system has?

there is no state tournament

the Pac 5 is only one part of the Southern Section, there are other playoff groups within the Southern Section and then 9 other sections although three of those sections are relatively small (Los Angeles City Section, San Francisco City Section, Oakland City Section). There is the San Diego Section, the Central Coast Section, the San Joaquin Section and several others.

To get nominated for the new (last year) state bowl games, you have to win your section, then win a vote as either the North representative or the South representative, beating out other section winners.

For instance, DLS plays in the NCS and they would have to be nominated (should they win their section playoffs) over the winner of the Central Coast Section (think greater San Jose area), the San Joaquin Section (think greater Sacramento area) and the Oak and SF City Sections.

the Southern Section is the LARGEST of California's ten sections, if you win your portion of the SS playoffs, you would have to get nominated over other SS winners, the San Diego Section winner, the Fresno area section winner and the LA city section winner

last year, there was some controversy as a 2 loss Canyon COuntry was nominated over JW North another SS winner who was 14-0 and the San Diego Section winner who I believe was undefeated but had 1 or 2 ties and the Fresno section winner. Canyon Country answered their critics by upsetting De La Salle

This would be the equivalent of having each of Ohio's four regions in each division pick two teams to play in a state championship game, instead of the four teams actually playing each other to determine who goes to the state championship game.

Can you imagine how crazy people would get if that was the system in Ohio? People would go absolutely ape-you-know-what.

Wow. That sounds more f*cked up than the BCS!

Can anyone in the NCS give DLS a run for their money?

this year, as most years it appers no
one team James Logan is undefeated

last year undefeated Foothill was state top 20 (maybe top 10) and DLS beat them I think 33-7 in the section final

DLS has won the NCS every year since 1992
they also won it in 1982, 1984-86 and 1988-90
in 1982, 1984 and 1985 they were not in the highest division in their section
in 1986 they moved up to the highest section and a monumental game between Monte Viste (defending Class 3A champ) and De La Salle (defending CLass 2A champ). DLS won 24-7, both teams were state top 5 that year
In 1987, The rematch saw DLS lose 14-13 to Monte Vista in the section final to break their 44 game win streak.

In 1991 Pittsburg became the only team to beat DLS betweem early 1989 and 2004 when they upset the Spartans 35-27 in the NCS final, ending DLS 34 game win streak. DLS had beaten Pitt 28-16 in the regular season. A 95 yard interception return late in the 4th Q proved to be the key play for Pitt (14 point swing), future NFL players Amani Toomer (DLS) and Regan Upshaw (Pitt) played in that game

the biggest obstacle would be being outvoted by Bellarmine should they won the CCS or the SJ Section Winner if they would be undefeated

that would be a major upset as DLS is nationally ranked and the other teams aren't

I just saw the brackets

The playoff brackets are set. Woody, you've been saying SLC is not going to win Texas this year. YOU need to put your money where you mouth is. WHO is going to beat SLC before the state final game?

It's time to put up or shut up.

I've done it. Now it's your turn.
How in the Good Lords name did Southlake avoid any trouble and get put in this division and bracket. No Trinity, No Mojo. The good teams are in the other division again. But the bet is they win the title and I still say they will not because they are not good enough, and yes I will bet on it.

Not exactly. There are many more sections in California than just 4 (like the four Ohio region champs). It's more like taking something like 14 Ohio regional champs and then "picking" two to play in the title game

LOL. The "good teams are in the other division again"???? You don't know what you are talking about.

When SLC won the titles in 2004 and 2005 their bracket was MUCH tougher than the D1 bracket. In 2006 SLC had to play the 2nd best team in the state in round 2 (#1 and #2 were in SLC's bracket). SLC has always played the best of the best in the playoffs.

2007 will not be any different. The BEST TWO TEAMS in Texas (#2 SLC and #1 Katy) are in Division 2.

From what I can tell, the splits between 1 and 2 seem to be pretty even this year. Per 5Atexasfootball.com, their top 25 consists of 13 division 1 playoff teams and 12 division 2 playoff teams. Although more teams in division 1 appear to be getting nationally ranked acclaim in the human polls (Permian, Allen, Trinity, Plano, N. Shore, Arlington Bowie) compared to division 2 (Katy and SLC), it appears Katy and SLC are regarded as the concensus 1 and 2 in the state. The only big controversy I can see arising would be if either SLC or Katy wins D2 and Permian wins D1. Or possibly even the same scenario but substitute Permian for Allen or North Shore.

As far as Calpreps top 25 for Texas 5A, 12 teams went D1 and 12 went D2 (1 did not qualify).

P.S. Apologies to consumerman for contributing to the further hijacking of this thread.
