I guess I knew that,in the case of Richmond HTS in basketballSchools only have the option to move to up to D1 in bball I believe. Can't just move up 1 or 2 divisions.
I guess I was just couris, what everyones thoughts ,on many divisions jumps, before they would get challengedI'd say DIV or DIII.
At DIV, they'd have to contend with Glenville. At DIII, TCC. It would be interesting to see how they'd do playing up past D V. One year ML won at DVII, beat the DVI and DV champ. That's why I said DIV or DIII.I guess I was just couris, what everyones thoughts ,on many divisions jumps, before they would get challenged
Fixed it for you.If there was a option to play up like in basketball, how many divisions jump could Marion Local play beforetheyTim Goodwin would get challenged,I think they could jump to d4 , and maybe make run to the finial 4,
I believe you are correct as well; my understanding that is across the board for all sports; can only make the move from whatever division you are to D1.Schools only have the option to move to up to D1 in bball I believe. Can't just move up 1 or 2 divisions.
Agreed. Also would like to see them play Bellbrook! Over in D4 a Clinton-Massie and Marion Local game would be very fun.I'd love to see them play Tipp City.
well, Coldwater handled CM this year 31-15, I would assume ML would add another 14 points to that spread.Agreed. Also would like to see them play Bellbrook! Over in D4 a Clinton-Massie and Marion Local game would be very fun.
Yes I know, ML would win easily, but in most years a ML/CM game would be a pretty good one.well, Coldwater handled CM this year 31-15, I would assume ML would add another 14 points to that spread.

Not true actually. From what I've heard, we tried called up Perry since Gecewich is a former ML coach and he said no because they have no opening. You can't schedule someone that doesn't have an opening. They could schedule highly ranked D3 or D4 teams any time they want, there is nothing stopping them.
To your prediction I also think they could "make a run" in one of the D4 regions. But firm underdogs vs. Glenville, Perkins, Perry, prolly Lake Catholic. D3 odds are obviously longer. (minus Glenville who could compete there).

My question to you though is in week 1 we drove 4.25 hours to the middle of nowhere Indiana to play Linton Stockton. Do you not think all avenues were exhausted before agreeing to that trip?Obviously scheduling conflicts can exist but there are many top 10 options in D3 & D4. I do think ML could compete with several of them.

That's what my issue with your premise of saying anytime we want. I don't think it's as simple as that. If it were, we wouldn't take those long trips. Especially this year I think Goodwin would have rather taken a good competitive game that we had a chance at losing within the confines of Ohio than driving way out there for one where the JV played the whole second half.
A couple answers. 1) D6 - there's this program named Kirtland that can likely give them a go. 2) They would complete well in D4, but definitely be challenged by the better teams. If there was a option to play up like in basketball, how many divisions jump could Marion Local play before they would get challenged,I think they could jump to d4 , and maybe make run to the finial 4,
Not taking it disrespectful at all. I agree with you on your point.I think you think I am being disrespectful. I stated ML could compete with many D3 & D4 programs which is a HIGH compliment. But no, I do not buy that they have exhausted all their options in trying to schedule a single top D3 or D4 team, sorry.
From what I have heard many D3 or D4 schools won't schedule them. It's a lose lose for them. They either win and get little points because it is a D7 school, or they lose to a D7 school. They could schedule highly ranked D3 or D4 teams any time they want, there is nothing stopping them.

I very much agree on the post season success adjustment, especially after back to back championships. From what I have heard many D3 or D4 schools won't schedule them. It's a lose lose for them. They either win and get little points because it is a D7 school, or they lose to a D7 school.
All in all I think it is stupid that the OHSAA only allows schools to jump to D1. Why not let a team jump up to D4?
While on the subject, why not factor in post season success into division assignments? Many other states have it to where if you win a state title you're all but guaranteed to jump a division the next year.
ML has 18 seniors this year - all of whom either start or play significant roles. If ML were to win state this year, why should it have to jump a division and compete against larger schools with a brand new crop of players next year? While on the subject, why not factor in post season success into division assignments? I agree, though no way would they make it past Glenville. If there was a option to play up like in basketball, how many divisions jump could Marion Local play before they would get challenged,I think they could jump to d4 , and maybe make run to the finial 4,
To compete. Would have been cool to see what ML could have done in DV last year if they would have bumped up from DVI instead of dropping to DVII, and if they would have won last year it would be very interesting to see what they could do in DIV. ML is one of the best, if not the best program in Ohio but people that are not from this area look down on them for being DVII, I would love for them to be able to show the ignorance of that thought.ML has 18 seniors this year - all of whom either start or play significant roles. If you want new champs every year I guess that’s one way to do it, but why would that be the goal?
Kirtland is by far the best match for ML. Would love to see them in the MAC.I think they would have one heck of a time beating Kirtland. That is just moving up one division. I don't think they could beat Glenville or Perkins in D4. D3 and up would be a no chance for Marion Local when it comes to the contenders.
