Lowndes-North Gwinnett

20-6 Lowndes halftime. Lowndes approx 300 yds total offense.NG approx 50 pass and run after subtracting the 4 sacks. Lowndes is way faster NG can win, but it will be big plays. Not enough to sustain drives on Lowndes. Lowndes is carving them up on the ground.

Classy coaches, both teams playing clean uniforms.2nd team Lowndes defense, 2nd team NG offense.Under 2 min to go.

34-6 final.Lowndes over 400 rushing.NG qb abused.NG neg rushing yds, and about 150 in the air. Prattville blew out NG in a preseason scrimmage that really wasn't a scrimmage(Prattville counts it as a win). The Bama boys didn't dominate from start to finish like Lowndes did. They hung 21 in the 4th. Lowndes staryd subbing mid 3rd .This game should have been a mercy killing.A couple of turnovers and missed field goals was all that prevented a running clock.Lowndes can play with any team anywhere. South Georgia restores order!

LOL! I wouldn't get too fired up there, Jesse. I would say Lowndes County has done well, but that's about it. It's been pretty much them taking on the rest of the state, because they aren't getting much help from the rest of south Georgia lately.

While Lowndes is to be congratulated for winning the state championship and being the best team in Class AAAAA, let's recall their only loss was to Harrison.

I think things will get a lot more equitable when the state championship games are played on a neutral field. In fact, I wish Georgia did things the way Ohio does and require that all games after the first round be played at neutral sites.

I think it's a total joke that a team gets to play a state championship game on its home field. It wasn't too bad last year with Peachtree Ridge playing Roswell, because they're at least reasonably close to each other.

However, when the two finalists are on opposite ends of the state, they should play in Macon or someplace like that. I hope the GHSA eventually finds a place to hold the state finals besides the Georgia Dome.

Maybe a system where the semifinals are still played in the Georgia Dome, but more centralized neutral sites could be found for the finals?

Beginning in 2008 all finals will be held at the Dome. I really think the semi-finals could be held in a neutral environment as well and am all for it. Macon would be the logical place however Porter Stadium, where Mercer played back when they fielded a team was pretty shot and was demolished some years back. Seated around 16,000 in a horseshoe shape. With temp seating, could have seated 20,000. Henderson holds approx 12,000 but is decrepit.Statesboro and Paulson , Georgia Southern's stadium would be good candidate for South Georgia semi's, and Herndon Stadium at AUC, ( Atlanta University Center), where a grouping of historically African-American colleges are located would be a great site for the North Georgia semi's. Due to geography I don't have a problem with quarter finals being held at the home of the higher seeded teams.Usually their opponent isn't at the opposite end of the state and their fans can show up and not be put through a tour of the state.Personally I would like to cut back to 2 the number of teams from each region making playoffs. Make getting there more meaningful in my book.

P.S. Harrison would probably forfiet rather than play Lowndes now.It would be ugly, and Harrison is a decent team who plays hard and is well coached.Upsets happen especially in near hurricane conditions.Right now Lowndes could go toe to toe with any team anywhere. Not saying they are the best team in the USA, but I believe they are one of the better programs around and would be a game for anybody. And Pukeview isn't getting much help either. At least when Camden won they beat Valdosta in Death Valley. 4 to 4 over the last 8, but the tide is reversing back. It's all about coaching and many of the metro Atl programs have put in place some good staffs while during the mid to late 90's many legends retired from South Georgia school, and their replacements did not pan out.Or failed to realize expectations. That is changing.

PPS The QB for NG finally was able to walk on his own today, at least thats the rumour.NG took a terrible physical beating. And remember NG toyed with and defeated by 25 pts(Walton) the team that defeated Harrison by 10pts.
