Lesson if UC makes the playoff

If Cinci had to play any of the schedules of the teams in the playoffs, they would have been at least 10- 2 or 11-1. Who knows, they may have been able to run the table playing those schedules. It is tough to pay in the BIG East playin tOSU, Um, PSU, and MSU; but Cinci could definitely beat PSU and MSU. And the other two BIG teams have not looked great all of the time, so who know. Let's see how Cinci fairs in the playoffs first.

And don't forget, the schmucks also had to give Cincinnati a check for 1.2 million dollars since they won't give us a home and home in addition taking that arse whoopin'.
Well, UC probably needs the money pretty badly since they were dropping varsity teams, no? So they should probably be kissing the ground that ND walks on. UC obviously has revenue issues with their small football stadium, their basketball team’s longtime inability to draw good attendance ever since they ran Huggins out of town, and whatever pittance of a TV deal the AAC has.

And we all know that UC miraculously found the one season out of the past decade they could’ve actually matched up with Notre Dame. They’d have been beaten soundly any other recent year and any future year for that matter.

It’s true, it’s true. Trust me …

Get outta here with that stuff. Cincinnati don't put guys in the league. Guys like Travis Kelce or his brother Jason. Guys like Josiah Deguara, or Mike Boone, or James Hudson, or Chris Moore, or Brett Celek had to have played their college ball at big time schools like Columbus Tech or Our Lady of Perpetual Touchdowns to make it in the NFL....oh wait!!!! Never mind
No one ever said UC hasn’t placed some solid guys in the league. But there’s no recent history aside from this year’s one-off of UC sending a consistent pipeline of solid talent into the league like a number of top programs have done.

It’s true, it’s true. Trust me …

None of this has any relevance to UC's 2021-2022 football team.

Again, not relevant lol. In addition to their performance in the CFP and matchup with Alabama, I'll be interested to see how many Bearcat players get drafted come April, compared to some of these other powers people are comparing them to and saying should have taken their spot.

Sure, those schools can win one game, every now and then, is that really the measuring stick that should be applied?
Well you say they don't belong because they don't have the recruits, they don't have the talent, they don't play the same schedule - but they can win those games. That alone shows they belong. So when a team like UC comes along, and a crazy season comes along, then the G5 can and should get their shot.

Ohio State won it that first year, so it seems they should have been in and not TCU. At the very least we can know that Ohio State didn't not belong. Then TCU was never heard form again. So much so they just fired their coach.
More flawed logic and strawman.

If it were so easy to be a P5 school, schools like TCU or Utah would have already found their way to the top of P5. Utah is getting close, but it has taken them, 10 years? Do you think Tulsa would do as well vs OSU schedule as OSU did?
Who said it was easy? And Utah has been winning their division in the Pac 12 for most of the past 5 years. Not quite the very top, but damn close.
What does the schedule have to do with it? I’m talking about their head to head matchup and that’s it.

What did I say that was incorrect? I seem to remember UC dropping men’s soccer not many years ago due to monetary deficiencies in the athletic department.

That program was bad and not making them money; why wouldn't they get rid of it? Made it to the tournament twice in nearly 50 years and overall record was below .500.

Thought this was timely for this discussion. Bleacher Report did a mock 16 team playoff. Had #3 Cincinnati playing #6 ND in quarterfinal. They pick Cincinnati....I know it's hypothetical, but funny of the timing.

To be fair, how many NCAA sports teams make money?

Men's football and basketball, other than that, probably none.

This is true. But it's the only sport they cut, so I'd have to imagine the program was costing them more than they thought it was worth keeping around.

You really think that's true? One year ND should have lost to Pitt. That same year Pitt was beaten by YSU by fourteen points. YSU didn't even make the FCS playoffs that year. ND got into the NC and got whacked. Cinci could have beaten ND last year. You also have to see how Fickell has really improved the team since he took over. He's even recruiting better than most BIG teams.

Bumping this thread back to the forefront because my original theorem has again been proven correct: If you play one opponent and 12 tomato cans, the committee will put you in the playoff. Michigan is this year’s example. They haven’t played a soul, yet the committee rewards them with a #3 ranking. They basically have a one-game season, where if they win, the committee then overlooks the horrific schedule the rest of the season.

There is no point in any team scheduling a difficult game as long as this collection of shitheads has the final say.

It’s a complete embarrassment for the sport.

The difference is that UM plays in a major conference, UC is not. The question becomes that when they switch to 12 teams, will teams feel free to schedule tough games, knowing that losing isn't a near end to their playoff hopes.

Outside of Ohio State and Michigan, who is good in that conference? Like even Top 25 good?

It’s true, it’s true. Trust me …
Penn State will end up being a top 10 team when all is said and done.

Illinois is a good team, I'd say top 25 when their running back plays, as showcased by their game with Michigan last week.

AEW has a hilarious amount of hatred for Penn State lol. Solidly top-12 in all functional ranking systems, with analytical models (i.e. Sagarin) actually valuing them as high as 6th/7th.

Notre Dame, on the other hand, has two good wins against the best teams from what most consider the worst P5 league on top of three losses, two of which are unforgivably God awful, and they are solidly top-10 in his book lol.
