Largest Comeback of All-Time? Running Clock Comebacks / Close Calls

Just curious what the largest comeback in state history is?

Also if there have been any comebacks by teams who had a running clock against them (or close calls).

My Leopards are 1-6, just looking for some good stories to ease the pain!

I can't help but think of the 2009 Hoover-McKinley game when Hoover trailed McKinley 34-2 at halftime and came back to win 38-34. The 32-point differential overcome is the most I know of.

Bishop Gorman blew a 28 point lead in the 4th quarter somewhat recently, I think it mostly happened with under a minute to go in the 4th quarter.

I recall reading about a game in Texas in the 90's where a team was up 44-7, and the other team came back to win 48-47 or something like that.

John Tyler was up on Plano East 41-17 with ~3:00 minutes to go. Plano East scored, and got a series on onside kicks to go their way after repeated scoring and PE was up 44-41 with 0:24 remaining — but John Tyler returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown in what proved to be the game-winning play.

48-44 John Tyler

Those announcers were hilarious. What an amazing finish. It’s on the coach should never have allowed a returnable kickoff with 20 seconds remaining.
It's Texas. They'd have a kid who could kick a 40-50 yard field goal attempt. You don't want to give them field position with that time left. I think the kicking team was just out of gas making the comeback. Had no chance to stop anything effective coming down the field at them.

1996 D6 state championship game..Mogadore down 35-3 late second quarter..won the game 61-58 in 3OT..we played week 12 that year at Louisville vs Cadiz

This game is why there should be no running clock. Or, if there has to be one & is going to be one, the point threshold should be set high enough that no team has ever come from behind the running clock activation margin to win or even tie a game.

In Week 9 of 2017, Highland led Tallmadge 51-14 midway through the third quarter. The Blue Devils scored four consecutive touchdowns and, thanks to three onside kick recoveries, had the ball down just 51-43 in the final minute of the game before Highland finally stopped them.

The only game I ever considered leaving at halftime i was so disappointed with how it was going, glad I stuck it out to witness the epic comeback.

A few years back Defiance had a 42-17 lead on Elida, with the ball and driving either late in the 3rd or early 4th. Had they scored, it's a running clock and the game is probably over.

They didn't. Elida then scored 29 unanswered to win 46-42.
