Lake Catholic 2024

FWIW I obtained enrollment data from the ODE website and below is Lake's enrollment as reported by Lake to Columbus every October for the last 7 school years. These numbers are the school's total enrollment for grades 9-12.

October 2023 - 439
October 2022 - 448
October 2021 - 454
October 2020 - 478
October 2019 - 506
October 2018 - 592
October 2017 - 686
Is Marty still the recruiting director? This is not a positive trend. I’m not saying he is responsible for this but 7 straight declines needs to be reversed immediately.

who is marty?

I have no affiliation with Lake, just a guy who likes numbers.

We had an issue with a D Coordinator being in serious trouble in the middle of the season and that cost us a possible state title. He was really good and he was gone after the Walsh Jesuit game week 7. His replacement wasn't even 1/8th of his capabilities.
I thought Bell was the DC for that title?

Marty Gibbons only held that position for his first 2 or 3 years.

Pretty sure Lake leads the series. I know Lake reached out to Mentor to play this year but Mentor refused. Lake is going to be really good this year so even as a division four opponent, they would have provided lots of potential points for Mentor. Of course though as expected Gray and Cassella said no.

Wondering what the all time series record is Lake Catholic vs Mentor? I know they no longer play.
Believe it or not, they've only played 5 times total; annually from 1995 to 1999 (admittedly, right in the middle of when Lake was an absolute powerhouse). Lake won 4 of the 5, with Mentor's only win coming in 1998 by a field goal.

Why would Mentor refuse? Isn't MLC D4?

Don’t ask him. He called Perkins the most disrespectful program he’s ever seen for calling about a regular season matchup. They will construct their roster, schedule, postseason plan their way and no one is to question The Great One.
Nope. He called them the most disrespectful program he’s ever seen for what their parents and posted before the game and said during the game. You know they game they lost, lot. And that’s why he wouldn’t give them a regular season, we scheduled St. Edward and Upper Arlington to fill our open weeks and we’ll very possibly see Perkins in the playoffs. But facts don’t matter….

Cool thread. Glenville guy - you have entirely too much time on your hands. You’re all over the place. The small Lake Catholic contingent on here do not want talk about Glenville, Perkins, Massillon, Mentor, St. Edward or Upper Arlington. They all have their own threads. And to say Lake Catholic is better than Massillon this year might be the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard on here in a long time.

I meant Mentor. All over the place on the internet, is that a thing? I have just the right amount of time on my hands Lake Catholic guy

Lake will be very good but unfortunately we all know the giant that awaits them. This season will be one to remember and will hopefully help turn the enrollment tide back to Reynolds Rd instead of VAsj or NDCL.

Dream on slime ball.
Well from an education and facilities standpoint Lake is better. VAsj has truly benefitted though from the voucher system. I was told recently they are about 80 percent voucher paid. That is not a sustainable model.

Who all does Lake Catholic have coming back? And who do they have 7 on 7s against if anyone knows? They took some huge strides last season, and have a great chance to win the North Coast Conference.

What, is 80 percent too low of a number? I’d definitely rather send my kid to Reynolds Rd. in Mentor than East 185 in Cleveland, almost Euclid.

But hey, that’s just me….
There's a lot of good things going on at both schools with some great kids. Both are poised to have fun this fall on the field. For once, how about we just keep this about football and let Lake have their thread back.
