Jonathan Alder Coaching Search

I saw he’s in a admin position there also. Wonder if he would take a pay cut. Very interesting
i see they have him as AD and Head Football Coach. maybe Alder could carve out a role for him. he seems like a candidate who could fit in at Alder and has produced winners at North Union

Alder also has an AD job open... but I do not see Hajjar moving schools.

The Crager idea is interesting??? Would he take a pay cut to go run his own program?

I do think Joel Cutler has a better chance than Kyle, IMO.

Any other Dublin runner-ups that are willing to take on a "smaller" school that will win right away?

I have no idea if any of the 3 current head coaches mention would be interested as possible JA candidates but here is their records:

Only other name that would possibly make sense, I can think of, would be Jason Peters from Grandview. But that is probably a big stretch, too (don't know if he'd want to leave GH; don't know how he would stack against the invisible sheet of applicants.)

Football wise probably tempting...but man would that be a pay cut.

Great info here. Being alumni’s of JA, both the Cutler brothers make sense. Not sure when interviews starts because they will need a new AD as well.

Lanza started out at JA when they were the laughing stock of small school FB around here.
I understand that. Where does JA see themselves in 5 years? 10 years? If they hired Lanza (who is probably not interested, nor would be a finalist), they would probably not get longer than 5-10 years out of him.

I always find that train of thought amusing. Don’t take an older coach. He will only be here 5-10 years. How long was glass there?
If he’s there for 5 years then that would be pretty good, no matter the age.

The point was I’m sure a program, with the prestige and recent success of Alder, would like to know about longevity and availability. That would go for any candidate.

I don’t know where Lanza has coached since 2016 (if he has at all) but at his last stop, Grove City he was:

2014, 2-8
2015, 3-7
2016, 0-10
=========
Total 5-25, 16.67%

Regarding the Grandview coach, he has been there since 2007 (14 seasons) with 5 playoff appearances and only 2 losing seasons. I believe Grandview is expecting to have some smaller than usual classes over the next few seasons. Football wise, if Grandview stays in the MSL Ohio they will have a rough go of it but if they were to move to the MSL Cardinal the Bobcats would easily win at lease half of their league games even in their toughest seasons. Back to JA, don’t know if he would leave Grandview.

I think Lanza deserves to have his tenure at Grove City excused. Wasn’t a great situation he stepped in to, had to deal with some absurd craziness by a handful of parents, really low levels of talent. He’s been on some of the recent staffs at GH since, I believe.

Others point out that JA would likely be a pay-cut compared to GH, so I see how Peters probably wouldn’t consider to apply. But yes, it had been mentioned several times over the years that GH was starting to see some lean classes (in #’s and talent) and last season was the first indication that it is coming true.

Grove City has been a dumpster fire for a while now.
If JA is looking to have the coach in the building then older Cutler and Peters would both be looking at a huge pay cut.

Definitely correct unless they can get him in a half admin type situation where it's not as bad. But, if they don't care about him not being in the building, it is about a 30 min drive from UA. Anybody have any inside knowledge? I have MS kids in the district and haven't heard anything.
