How long is a new team in CLUB?

We just finished our first year in Club.

Who or what determines how long a specific school stays in club or who moves to D2 or D1? It appears that a few teams have been in Club for a few years. Is it based on their record, their school size or what?

yes at my school lax is in it's 2nd year and isnt an official team sport.
It will probably be next year

I assume you're talking about Elder...

Very nice season for you guys, you've come a LONG way in only two years. And that was a pretty amazing win for you guys over the St. X Reserve in that freaking RAIN

Club teams

School sponsorship/ recognition has little to do with whether a program is D1, D2 or club within OHSLA. Given LAX is not recognized yet by OHSAA it is all "club" and it is largely up to individual schools how much financial backing they provide (Moeller players and fundraisers generate most of the $ to fund the program there even after many years and success). A recognized sport is required to be funded by the school if offered:
from OHSAA "All practices, games, previews and other interscholastic athletic contests must be under
the direct control, sponsorship and supervision of schools involved and be the financial
responsibility of such schools except that high school contests sponsored by colleges and
universities are exempt from this bylaw."

Club teams are typically new programs (less than 3-4 years) OR programs that draw players from more than one school. That is the reason some teams (e.g. Milford, Anderson, Dayton) stay in the Club bracket for quite some time. As sport grows and more schools add programs, these teams will start to move up if they can consolidate to single high school (e.g. Loveland, Turpin). School size and success determine D2 vs. D1. Mariemont (small) moved to D1 couples years ago but struggled at that level of competition so returned to D2. Mason and East would probably welcome chance to win at D2 level but are such large schools that they cannot. Kings is smallest D1 at ~400 in Cinci, Turpin is similar size but only in year 2...
