It didn't end well at Butler for sure, but remember he made the playoffs his first season. Then the infamous coaching a Centerville game while HC at Butler and had issues with the baseball and wrestling coaches who run Butler athletics. I think Butler wasn't the right place and the community didn't back what he was doing. In the end they both are better off now. Butler has a good coach who the community supports and Puckett is at a school that he can run the way he wants and the community supports it.

Helping an opposing team from the box was definitely not a good look, silly mistake. I think the biggest, most alarming issue here is not being able to work with other adults. Regardless of "who's running athletics", he struggled to work with people it would seem. I was told by the coach that followed John at Butler, he struggled to get players for a couple years, from old scars. He had all world success at Covington and knew he needed to get the talent back. Centerville is always going to have a fully loaded team, even if they struggle, so at least he won't have to worry about roster size. Still needs to be able to work with the Basketball coach, who's successful just like Butler Wrestling and Baseball. Hopefully Puckett learns his lesson and can continue to have success, I've heard this to be Junior class is a "special" one to them.

I think Puckett learned a lot from his time at Butler. He maybe had wrong expectations coming from Centerville to Butler, but he has a great relationship with Coach Cupps and I believe he will flourish there.
 
In another thread, user hdvhsmgr provided the full 2025 GWOC football schedules. Looking ahead at the weeks 1-3 out-of-conference games, I listed them below. Anyone know if Springfield is still looking for an opponent for week 2 and Wayne week 3?
