Hartman's teammate, Sam Bush of Turpin HS, also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5000 by taking 2nd in the 1st heat and recording the day's 6th fastest time of 15:28.10.
In the women's 10000, Syracuse's Savannah Roark of Beavercreek gave a valiant effort but came up just short of the last qualifying spot, finishing 13th. At 9200 meters Roark was about 10 seconds out of the 12th spot. At 9600 m she had closed to within about 7.5 seconds. At the line she a mere 0.39 seconds out of 12th. Roark's last lap of 1:10.43 was the fastest of anyone in the field.
