Every underclassman player that saw time last season played this season. There were 4 juniors (Sulek, Hanley, Koelling, and Kirkllin) and one sophomore (Hibbert) that didn't play 23/24 seasons after playing in 22/23. Sulek and Koelling are at OSU for baseball, and Hanley is at Indiana. they knew this was their senior and final shot to win a baseball championship, so they went all in and quit basketball. Basketball was never their top sports to begin with. Hibbert only played a total of 6 minutes the entire season. Kirklin played in every game and averaged about 12 minutes.
I don't know about the disgruntled parents, but I do know the superintendant played a major role in him getting the job, so I doubt he's going anywhere. Greg and Ken were great friends, but at the same time the commitment level for sports in the offseason was completely different 15-20 years ago. Ken retired in 2013 and spent most of the year in Florida the last few years he coached because he was retired.
I am not trying to be a Toohey apologist, but I don't really think it's fair to spin a narrative that is not entirely true about kids leaving the program because of Toohey.
