last i heard.. not coaching..working with aj Hawks brother......
Guy is a big phony, inherited a great team at Minster with kids that were on the verge of doing something special anyways. I think by the end of his tenure at Minster, the program was going in wrong direction. Made the jump to Coffman and failed there, he will be back when another sure fire job becomes available. He quit on the kids at Coffman! He quit on the kids at Minster and he quit on the kids at Urbana! Compete your face off and all his dumb sayings made me puke. If it was all about the people and the relationships, and how you stand for one another why do you move on and always chase the next big thing. Because your message gets old real quick and people see right through that. Minster has got great hometown assistants that keep the program going and that is why they have been really good with the last 3 head coaches.

In your opinion, what do you call "program heading in the wrong direction"
I did a little research and come up with the following.
Stokes was 64-25 at minster in 8 seasons, (not including covid) and minster was 40-49 the prior 8 seasons to him going there.
29-20 since he left. (22,23,24 seasons)
Minster
2013 - 6-4
2014 - 12-3 State Champ
2015 - 10-3 Lost to State Champs
2016 - 10-5 State Runner Up
2017 - 11-4 State Champ
2018 - 8-4 Lost 3rd round of playoffs
2019 - 9-2 Lost to State Champ
2020 - Covid year
Coffman
2021 3-7 with a playoff win over Wayne
2022 7-4
2023 10-4 Lost to state runner up by a TD
2024 4-9 3rd round of playoffs
I get it if you don't like how the guy coached. Your post threw me off though a little bit just from the standpoint of bashing a guy that delivered you 2 state titles. There are schools that would sell off half the school to get a title in football. And this guy delivered 2. Just trying to make it make sense seeing how no one before him delivered recently and no one after him has delivered that title.

I am telling you right now, that guy is not real! Came to a program that had Division 1 College talent on the team. Heck the Wolf Brothers had a cup of tea in the NFL. 1 guy went to NC State. Not to many D 6 High School programs had the talent he had. He had some really great talent that would of probably won State titles anyway. He always said it is about Dudes being Dudes! Minster has stud athletes, and a community that supports youth sports.
When Coach Moore came to town the program was terrible! He turned it around, Stokes was smart to follow that! When he left, Minster had very few Upperclassman and program was young and struggled. Look what Whiting has done, they would of a won a State title last year if were not for Marion Local. Lost 3 games to 2 State Champs. Lost to Marion 21-7 in Playoffs. Only team to even compete with them.
Stokes is a good football coach, but is not what you guys think he is. The coach speak is fake and tiresome. He acts like he has watched every motivation video on the internet. Changes his voice for some reason when he does interviews, just comes off fake to me. I am sorry, this is my view of the man. Just Coach Football and keep your motivational talks to yourself. If I was a in a position of power to hire him, I would take a pass and probably get a barf bag out during his interview.

Minster 2019 may have won state had it not been for Anna. Last year's Minster team was more talented than any Stokes coached Minster team. I am glad Stokes was not HC of Minster last season, I don't know if ML beats Minster last season with Stokes as HC. Stokes is a little different, but he gets his players to play tough physical football and his play calling vs ML in 2019 when Minster def. ML in the reg season was excellent. You say Minster has stud athletes, only had stud athletes when Stokes was there? Minster was always consistent under Stokes never any down years.

You do realize in your second paragraph, you stated that if not for Marion Local, they would have won a title last year.
Keeping that same mindset,
If not for losing to State Champ ft recovery in 2015
if not for losing to State Champ JFK in 2016
If not for losing to State Champ Anna in 2019
This guy that your bashing would have "5" State titles in 8 years. I'll say that again, 5 titles in 8 years. Thats pretty remarkable for a guy that you stated was a "phony"
You are wrong like always, you are always wrong. He was running the program into the ground, why did Minster have to start so many Freshman when Brogan was a Freshman? Because of Gerron Stokes. The kids were tired of his personality. They were tired of the Fake. He did win some titles, He never had a juggernaut- To say Minster would of won State in 2019 if it was not for Anna, I think Archbold and Mechanicsburg would of gave them a game. Like I said Stirred - You are WRONG! Success isn't always measured in State Championships! I would take Coach Whiting over him any day and Twice on Sunday. I do not think this years team had any D1 players. More talent this year is laughable! 2019 Minster had a great QB named Niemeyer- that was not because he was coached by Stokes! He is a quitter - He quits on his programs and talks about relationships and working hard, attitude, mental toughness and competing. Then turns around and quits. What is his longest tenure at 1 program? He is no Nate Moore, maybe a want to be Nate Moore. Most of his Coaching tree is not that great either, wasn't Coach Circle his boy! Marino is average but I don't even know if they like each other. The guy that is Coaching Covington has not faired well.
Stay some where, build it and win, then I will respect the talk. Talk the talk - Walk the Walk and respect will follow.
Well you got what you wanted and he is no longer the head coach, not to mention he delivered 2 state titles for you. Weather you like him or hate him or anyone could have won a state title with those kids, he delivered so maybe say thank you for the state titles and move on. I wonder if you will be singing the same tune if Minster doesnt win any titles for a long time. Nick Saban himself couldnt go to Dixie and win a title without talent. Your statement is wild to me, he had dudes so of course he won. Obviously man, you dont win games unless you have good athletes lol. Thats why some teams never have winning seasons because they have bad athletes.

To call him a quitter. isn't bettering yourself a good thing? Leaving something better than the way you found it? Leaving urbana for a mac job was a promotion, leaving minster after 8 seasons for a D1 job was a promotion.

He was better off staying at Minster for the remainder of his career. It appeared to be a great fit for both and the results speak for themselves. Wonder if he regrets leaving
No doubt a great coach but comparing those schools to Marion Local is apples to oranges.
During Minster/Stokes State championships Marion Local was NOT in the same division or they would have zero and you could make the case this was ML’s best team ever.
State Champs 2017 and lost to ML 21-7
State Champs 2014 and lost to ML 49-28

I agree mostly with what you stated.
My only point to the earlier post was that if he wanted to say that they would have a title if not for state champ marion local, couldnt we also say the same about the state title teams that beat minster? Im not sure how you cant.
During Minster/Stokes Era, Minster and Local were actually never in the same region to my knowledge.
It would be like saying, Local would not have as many titles if they were in coldwater's region every year. We can't just assume that. (although i want to, there have been some absolute dog fights over the years between them)
Now if they had been in same division/region during his era, then I think the discussion is different. Just trying to judge based on who they actually played.

Curious as to your list of Dublin Coffman coaches (ranked 1st to last) since the 1970’s.
Bob Farmer, 7 seasons 1968-1974
Greg Merill, 3 seasons 1975-1977
Todd Alles. 10 seasons 1978-1987
Bill Conley, 3 seasons 1988-1990
Bryan Deal, 4 seasons 1991-1994
Eric Tudor, 6 seasons 1995-2000
Mark Crabtree, 20 seasons 2001-2020
Geron Stokes, 4 seasons 2021-2024
At a quick glance I believe Stokes has the worse winning % of all the coaches listed. Deal won a state title at Dublin Scioto, Conley went on to coach at Ohio State, Alles had a nice run Tudor was only 2 games above 500 but was dealing with Dublin splitting up into two schools and Crabtree is the winningest coach in school history. It’s an opinion question but the numbers do not fare well for Stokes. Curious as to why you said he was the best coach at Dublin over the last 50 years.

To say the least Harry can get emotional & long winded about Dublin Coffman football. The reality is no one on Yappi cares more or knows as much about Coffman football as him. I don’t agree with everything Harry says but regarding Coffman football he is correct far more than he is wrong.

You and I disagree. Seems like we’ve had this conversation before. It’s ok to disagree.
I have seen all of these guys coach and interact with the school and players (except for farmer). Stokes is the best I have seen with the players. His attention to detail and his passion he coached the players was impressive. And he brought it every day.
It didn’t work and was a bad fit for everyone involved make no mistake.
All of these coaches were good in their own way (maybe Tudor left something to be desired).
I coached, taught and had a son who played.
Harry had a daughter in the band.
I’m not saying your not entitled to your measurement of care and knowledge of Coffman football based on his posts of Yappi, but his interaction with the program was limited to a daughter in the band. This is a fact.

The ‘fit’ with Stokes and the Dublin community was/is the biggest gap difference than at any of his prior stops. The kids at each of these stops (Urbana, Minster & Coffman), while different, they will respond and give their best. The community, parents, administration - 2 of the 3 stops are not like the other. The results are in and it simply was a bad fit.
Stokes must have made one heck of an impression on you and I’m sure a few others in the Dublin community but the record is unforgettable. Last year the best win for Dublin was Westland. Yes I know it was Westland best team in 20 years and maybe its best ever…..but it’s Westland. It was obviously time for a change for all parties involved.

and also was State runner up.... he did a great job at Minster...the kids busted their tails for him... and made them accountable for their actions.... some places don't like that type of coaching put on their players.... he wasn't for everyone... but the kids who bought in.. learned a hellva lot more then football!!!! and on a side note... nobody had better conditioned players then he put on the field!!!!

I do agree with you on the 2019 team, i think they would have had a great opportunity to win State that year...... they had a 1,000 yard wr, 1,500 yard rusher, and a QB that could run and pass with the best of them... and the OFF Line might have been the best that the Cats have had in a long time. But concerning this year, i'm going to give a lot of credit to Whiting, he did a great job this past season with a bunch of talented kids, his practices are on the same line as how Stokes ran a practice... which i think was as good as it gets. Not sure where Show pony is coming from, probably a parent, just looking at his past posts... but sounds like a type of parent that would send a letter to a coach complaining about something... but NEVER SIGN THE LETTER... those letters end up in FILE13
