General NFL Chat

I completely disagree with this. The NFL has had missed/blown calls long before the embrace of gambling and long before the adaption on replay. Officiating is flawed because it is done by humans. As long as humans are doing the officiating it wall always have a human element: people miss things & make mistakes. To say the NFL is sliding into Vince McMahon territory - not even close.

In order for gambling to work & make $$$ for the NFL there must be confidence by the bettor that the event (the game) is fair/legit. Will there be scandals? Absolutely. History says there has, is and will be scandals. Some scandals in sports:
* 1919 Chicago Whitesox
* 1960’s Green Bay Paul Horning
* 1980’s college basketball Boston College
* 1980’s Art Schlister & Pete Rose
* 2006 NBA official
* 2022 Tennis had two players ranked 600-ish and 950-ish banned a year and for life
* Europe soccer has had scandals.
* Horse racing always has scandal.

There will be more, they will be dealt with and gambling & the NFL will continue on.
Cool facts, emblematic of many more "scandals", all revolving around gambling.

Yet demonstrating absolutely nothing negating the possibility that someone in the NFL also compromises it's integrity. 🤷‍♂️ You filibuster for the NFL like you do your politics.

And your belief of the NFL compromising its integrity is the same as your politics - full of crazy conspiracy theories.

Stick to the Hallmark channel because your sports knowledge just isn’t there.

Pass interference should be reviewable again.
The NFL competition committee fell victim to the fanboy mindset (New Orleans) when they decided that PI should be reviewable.

They found out (after ignoring the officials' union..... who is not represented on the committee) in short time that it was a lousy idea. There's more to PI than simply contact. There's more to PI than the last .3 seconds of real time that the average fan sees....... then sees again in HD, super slow motion...... It's a 100% subjective call and subjecting something like that to review was going to fail in short time...... which it did.

You’re just as sophomoricly manipulative over here, when you post like a clown and make it sound like I’m selling an orchestrated effort from Roger Goodell on down. Why don’t you go back and reread, and try to remember that all of the words matter ?

What a bunch of B.S. Playing football is much harder than officiating, very few Americans can play NFL football many could officiate, know the rules and be in position to make a call.
Not a fair comparison. That said...... I've had a conversation or two with one of the guys who has played in and officiates in the NFL....

Wanna take a stab at what he said?
NFL games are usually decided by a TD or less, that call last night may keep the Falcons out of the playoffs or give the NFL darlings the chiefs homefield advantage throughout the playoffs it is a big deal, a really big deal.
And yet if the Falcons "got the call", the ball would have been placed at the one yard line....... Just one yard would have been needed then to score a touchdown.......... Somehow you know what would have happened from that point on :ROFLMAO: ..... and yet, they couldn't get that one yard (there was a prior series inside the 10 that they failed three times to gain a yard)
So, it behooves the NFL to get the calls right. That was such a boneheaded miscall that A. The zebra is incompetent to do his job correctly or B. Something else. If it is A he should not be a zebra, not at the NFL level anyways.
Just plain silly thinking. It's the same thinking that's been adopted at every level of every sport.
Lot of Americans are very passionate about football plus there is the betting so no mistakes like that "no call" should not happen and they happen too often.
Maybe those American should bet on computer simulated games.

It’s simple: you stated your belief the NFL was compromising its integrity and could “slide into Vince McMahon territory”. I disagreed, gave my opinion and examples of why I disagreed. You want to argue for the sake of arguing because it’s what you do. Save your crap for Debate forum, don’t ruin another thread.

It’s simple - you never approach anything straight-up. You always twist, because you are twisted.

“Yet demonstrating absolutely nothing negating the possibility that someone in the NFL also compromises it's integrity.”

That above is what I actually wrote
, which is why you suck, Only a fool or a liar would turn that into an absolute emphatic statement, as you did.

Which one are you ?

You idiot, I responded to this post of yours

“Did not intend to insinuate that you had, just anticipating the disciplinary process.

Ever since the NFL decided to participate in NFL gambling, they've probably begun to further grease their own slide into Vince McMahon territory.”

If I went back to each of your post I would have to quit my job and hire a couple of interns to keep up with your daily postings. Your statement of the NFL “slide into Vince McMahon territory” is ridiculous. The NFL is about $$$. Nothing more, nothing less. Compromising the integrity of the game would be stupidity and drastically affect their $$$ revenue.

Now go on about your daily posting.

@lotr10 do the Bills have a new offensive coordinator this year? They seem very creative on offense on these first two drives against the Jags.
Yes Joe Brady was promoted midway through last season to OC after the Bills fired Dorsey. And there's a Bengal's connection.

In 2019 when Burrow and LSU won the national title it was Brady, who had been an offensive quality control guy for the Saints, who was brought in by LSU to design and call their pass plays. The rest was history as Burrow, Chase & Jefferson led the greatest passing attack and offense in college football history.

So Brady gets hired by Carolina the next season as their OC and then is thrown under the bus and fired by their maniac owner midway through 2021 season. He landed in Buffalo as QB coach.

Since he was hired the Bills have completely changed their offense and Allen has changed some aspects of this game. IF Allen can keep playing like this, being careful & patient with the ball, the Bills will be a very tough out for any team. Tonight 5 different Bills scored TD's.

Looks like the Commanders have the real deal in Daniels, meanwhile the Bears selected Williams who is 3 inches shorter than Daniels. Not sure what they were thinking.

It’s only 3 games into their careers. Yes Daniels looked fantastic last night but Williams was 33-52 for 363 yards, 2 tds, 2 int and he lost a fumble on Sunday. Not great stats but definitely something to build on. The thing one has to be concerned with regarding Daniels is he’s only 210 pounds. He better figure out how to slide.

I think both teams feel like they have a bright future.

I'd take either of them over Watson.

I say this because you really have to give young QB's time, and I mean a couple of seasons before you make any evaluations. My team, the Titans drafted Marcus Mariota several years ago. His first game, against the Buccaneers, he threw 4 TD passes in the first half. Some could say that was the high point of his Titans career.
Daniels looked great Monday night, no doubt, and Williams has had some struggles. But it's way too early to make any comparisons.

At this point in time, I would say the same thing about the Texans who selected CJ Stroud rather than Carolina's Young.

The comparison of Williams & Daniels will go for these two entire careers. We are only 3 games in so let’s wait until about the middle of next season to truly see what each is. Williams has it a bit more difficult because he is in Chicago - a franchise that QB’s go to die. If these two were MLB, then Da Bears is where one would want to go.

The comparison of Young & Stroud, it’s pretty obvious who is off & running in their career. Would Young been as successful if he went to Houston, I’d say most like not. Should Stroud still be the ‘Stroud’ he currently is if he had gone to Carolina? Probably not. Carolina has an impulsive owner who has consistently shown he does the wrong thing or if he does the right thing he is most likely to screw it up in a very short time.

Agreed. To be successful you need…….
Franchise - especially good coaches and distant owners.
QB
Defense
Supporting cast - some good skill players.
If you have at least two of the four you have a good chance of winning a lot of games and finding the playoffs.
