General NFL Chat

Bills took it to them. Mahomes having back to back subpar years, last year it was his WRs not being able to catch a cold, this year just an off year. They won the SB last year and were undefeated coming into this one. Chiefs are what all nfl teams should try to emulate.

Josh Allen and the Bills get the Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs monkey off their back and this is your only post?! Gotta be feeling good right now.
To be fair, this was the Allen led Bills FOURTH straight win against the Chiefs in the Regular season. And 3 of those wins were at Arrowhead stadium. Allen is 4 - 4 against Mahomes and while the Bills have not beaten Mahomes/Chiefs in the playoffs the last 2 losses were the infamous "13 seconds" and last season when the Bills missed a 42 yard FG to send the game to OT.

But yea I feel very good about the Bills right now. Given all the players they lost and the fact they are dealing with 31 million dollars in dead cap money from Diggs I saw this season as a reload. But it looks like the Bills are one of the top 5 teams in the NFL, will win their division and finish in 2nd or 3rd place in the AFC seeding. They are a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

And next season, in addition to their #1 pick they have TWO picks in the 2nd round.

If I were a Bills fan, I'd be concerned about Bass on the big stage. He gives me Norwood vibes.

Football fans are funny people. From the Super Bowl last year, NFL combine, draft, mini camp - - "can't wait for the season to come!". We're not even to Thanksgiving and many fan bases have stopped following their teams. Only 17 games, 18 weeks, 1 day a week is all you get. One of the reasons why I marvel at the popularity of football.

Believe me we are concerned. Just like "Money Mac" for the Bengals Bass had the nickname "Bass -o-Matic" but has struggled at times recently. But then he nails a 61 yard FG to beat the Dolphins. The realty is that these kickers are all head cases.

How quikly things change in the NFL, last year people were talking about how good the AFC North was top to bottom, NFC North so - so. The AFC North now is so - so and the NFC North has 3 really good teams. And Sam Darnold has to be the comeback player of the year.

The PB and J discussion on manningcast was classic!

Love watching these guys...reminds me when all the guys would get-together and watch games

The lifeline in the NFL is about 20 minutes. Injuries and the salary cap just make rosters change so much. The Chiefs could easily have 4-5 losses, but #15 simply is the difference in winning and losing. How many games come down to a handful of plays? Now I think the Lions are the only really complete team in the league. They can run, pass, they defend well, special teams are solid. The biggest question for most is can Jared Goff steer the ship. As great as the Ravens looked last night, they have 4 losses somehow? They are wildly inconsistent, as is their QB.

It takes total team play. Mahomes is actually have a crappy year, but his defense is playing great for the most part.

Conversely, Burrow’s having an MVP year and has a crappy defense.

Mahomes (great player) was fortunate he was drafted by KC, been drafted by Carolina or Bengals or some other lousy organization (browns) he might have been out of the league by now. Again, just look at Sam Darnold everybody thought he was washed up - look at me now.

True, but when the chips are down, Mahomes wins. If the came is close at the end, he comes through.

This will make family gatherings a bit awkward. From si.com:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has officially filed a lawsuit against Camwood Capital Management Group, a company owned by his father James Mayfield.

Baker Mayfield's estate is seeking $11.7 million from his father's company his brother, Matt Mayfield, also has a stake in. Per the lawsuit, $12.2 million was allegedly transferred from Baker to a subsidiary of Camwood Capital Management Group called Texas Contract Manufacturing Group without Baker's authorization.

In 2023, Baker filed a motion for Camwood Capital Management to turn over financial records from 2018-23 to see where the money had gone. Per WFLA News, a “confidential settlement and release agreement” was made for the company to repay the $11.7 million, refinance an existing loan to make that repayment and to give Baker access to the company's record books. Per Mayfield's lawsuit, none of that happened.

"To date, Camwood Capital has not repaid even one dollar under the Settlement Agreement, Defendants have failed to refinance their existing loan, and Defendants have not provided Plaintiffs with access to their books and records,” the lawsuit said. “As a result, Plaintiffs have been left with no choice but to file suit for breach of the Settlement Agreement to recover the assets improperly taken from them.”

Baker's team is looking for $11.74 million plus interest, costs, attorney fees and, per the lawsuit, "any other relief that the Court deems just and proper.”

Too bad for Baker. Ole can not choose their parents, some are not so fortunate with having good people as their mom/dad. Baker has is flaws but he definitely seems to have some good characteristics as well. Fortunately for Baker he signed the deal with Tampa Bay last year, he should be ok regardless of his dad’s company pays the $12 mil or not.

JK Dobbins, man he can't stay healthy. I thought he was the most underrated Buckeyes when he was in Columbus. He really kept that team balanced, running and catching. But he's had nothing but injuries in the NFL, first with Baltimore and now with the LA Chargers.

How many times have we seen money pull families apart. Sad story.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It’s a decades-long tradition that just makes sense: NFL football on Thanksgiving. America’s favorite sport takes center stage during its most gluttonous holiday, a match made in heaven. But Ohioans really dislike watching America’s team.

In an unscientific survey analyzing the sentiment of social media, the website Betway Insider found Ohio tops the nation in being tired of watching the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving. About 68% of Ohio social posts that mentioned both the holiday and the Cowboys were negative. Oregon, Colorado, Wisconsin and Louisiana also had negative scores above 60%. The website offers no take on how states feel about the Detroit Lions, which also play each Thanksgiving.

The Lions have played on every Thanksgiving since 1945, while the Cowboys have played on all but two occasions since 1966.

Not that anyone asked me, but I get sick of having the Cowboys shoved down my throat on this day. What's worse is the Cowboys' opponent for today is even more unwatchable with a bad Giants team putting Tommy DeVito under center. It's unfortunate they don't play the early game today, so I can watch the dog show. Instead, I'll be flipping back and forth b/w the dog show and the Lions.

Yep, it's always been the Lions and the Cowboys on Thanksgiving. For now it has flipped with the Lions good and the Cowboys down. The night game should be decent.

I think you're going to see Drew Lock for the Giants.

Eberflus had fans, even former Bears players, demanding he get fired. The head coach didn't take long to address the botched clock management postgame.

“The hope was to re-rack the play, snap the ball at 18 seconds, throw in-bounds, call timeout and then kick the field goal,” Eberflus explained via NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.
