Gameday Preview: Teays Valley vs Lancaster
(So. Amelia Brumfield)
The Teays Valley girls' basketball team will host Lancaster on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in an OCC Buckeye conference matchup. The Vikings are looking to avenge their 51-48 loss to the Golden Gales on December 3rd.
In their previous meeting, Lancaster's Kylan Pugh led the way with 14 points, while Molly Stedman added 11 points and Lily Stoughton contributed 10 points. Teays Valley's Tessa Horsley paced the Vikings with 16 points, followed by Cooper McManaway and Cami Robbins with 10 points apiece.
Lancaster enters the matchup with a 9-8 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the OCC Buckeye conference. The Golden Gales are coming off a 64-39 non-conference victory over Dublin Scioto, led by Molly Stedman's 12 points and four assists.
Teays Valley, meanwhile, holds a 5-12 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the OCC Buckeye conference. The Vikings are looking to bounce back from a 54-33 non-league loss at Grove City, in which Tessa Horsley scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
"We're kind of looking for a victory," said Teays Valley Coach Trevor Younkin. "Dusty’s team is looking for a win, and they got us last time at their place, and we are working on stuff, and we're young; that was our game three, so it is what it is, but here we come Thursday night. It should be a good battle at home, and hopefully, we can take what we learned the last couple of nights and go from there."
I will be on hand in Ashville with updates throughout!
