Their 2016 6A State Champions, filling in for the 7A State Champion Grayson Rams, were BLASTED by 7A Chandler, Ariz. in Frisco, Texas' GEICO State Champions Challenge, 44-24. Grayson had opted out, because GEICO would only permit 50 players to make the trip. The previous trip was a mere sixty miles in 1986, to play North Florida power Tallahassee Leon and QBI Peter Tom Willis, in Doak Campbell Stadium at Florida State. ValDOSta's future national champions won 28-3 in front of 25,000.
