Funny thing I was thinking about- if you were to short list three guys in 2014 who could have made world teams in 2022, Marsteller, Nolf, and Zahid were probably on that list. The fact that three guys who were already at the top of 74kg are blocking them all is rather incredible, and a compliment to the longevity and excellence of JB, Dake, and DT.

Yianni comes up clutch once again, scoring a step out with two seconds left to beat Henderson 11-9 in match one. Really fun one, Henderson wrestled really tough but Yianni just finds a way.

Gwiz takes match 1 5-0 over Zillmer. Just makes me sad Gable left the sport, Gwiz just doesn't have that offense or speed that you need to beat the best. Still has fairly solid defense, nice score late in 2nd off a Zillmer shot.

Good stuff yank.

Kamal Bey looked like he was back.
Elor probably is the best 18yr old in the country.
Henderson got as close as he's going to get. The two chest wraps were classic Henderson, but Yianni is clutch.
Vera looked good.
Gwiz is the best we have.
Sancho got a win but had to come on hard at the end.
Parrish controlled.
Hafizov the old man in GR.
Hancock trashes Amos.
Hildebrandt is the class of the weight.
Helen is the class of the US.
Dake, JB and DT are just too good and had controlled wins.

Round two coming up.
I only had three weights going three matches and now I think the only chance is Alston getting a win over Sancho.
Enjoy the next round. Not much coming up for our wrestlers in the coming months. ✌️ ??

Well now, Hayden Zillmer wins match 2 4-3 and beats Gwiz. Scored twice in the last minute, Gwiz definitely fading a bit there. Let's have some fun, match 3 later tonight

Dake 4-2 over Nolf. Dake with three pushouts and a caution, Nolf only TD of match. Dake is too strong, really tough for Nolf to stop those pushouts.
Dake 2-1 winner in the second. Couple of weird matches to me- Nolf obviously better, but Dake didn't score a TD in either match. Guessing Russia can wrestle at worlds, it's hard to beat Sidakov if you can't score TDs, because we know Sidakov can score on you.

JB takes match 1 4-0. Defensive show, Jordan got banged up early in the second and shut it down after that. Don't think Chance has the offense to score repeatedly on JB.
Oh baby Chance Marsteller 2-2 over JB. Arm throw for 2 in the 1st was the difference over JB's two pushouts. Interesting moment at end of match, it was forced par terre at end and JB requested neutral, but it's not folkstyle and you must attempt to turn from par terre.

Soon! Think its the last 3rd match, 10 minutes maybe?

We have a world team!

57kg- Thomas Gilman
61kg- Seth Gross
65kg- Yianni Diakomihalis
70kg- Zain Retherford
74kg- Kyle Dake
79kg- Jordan Burroughs
86kg: David Taylor
92kg- J'Den Cox
97kg- Kyle Snyder
125kg- Hayden Zillmer

A team that's comprised of 8 returning members, six former World Champs, 8 NCAA champs, 8 who made Cadet/Junior teams. Super solid team, and with Russia up in the air for competing it could be a world champ team.
