Literally a game of inches. Boardman scored two runs in the bottom of the 1st off of two doubles that both tipped off the centerfielder's glove. Those came after a looping single that was almost caught by the Tallmadge shortstop. After those three consecutive hits, Tallmadge's defense shutdown Boardman getting 16 outs in the next 16 batters (one hit but erased on a leaving base early).
Tallmadge had 6 hits and also reached base on three errors. Two timely baserunning outs helped Boardman get out of jams with a caught stealing on a 1st and 3rd with one out and a throw-out from the RF backing up first on an overthrow bunt hit with the other runner advancing to 3rd (first out of the inning).
