Extra competition for my girl

I am looking to see if anyone knows of any open tournaments coming up that my wrestler could enter. Is there any high school or college opens that my daughter could go to and get more practice before regionals?

From the 24-25 OHSAA Wrestling Regulations, January 6 was the last day for this year.

For specific questions, always contact the OHSAA and specifically Monroe Britton.
Do NOT rely on eligibility info on a forum.

you must pay attention to her points before going to any other tournaments to ensure eligibility for post-season participation

Been days with no reply from Monroe about this specific rule…
Try 614-267-2502 x135
I am not sure what could be unclear but, since they make and enforce the rules, best not to chance it.
You could also try Beau Rugg, Charles Anderson, or maybe Keaton Jones.

I just started a topic on the main wrestling thread on this because I was unclear on the rule. January 6th is the cut off for HS kids to compete in college opens, if your kid competes in one after January 6th they will not be eligible for the post season.

Non-Interscholastic Participation
See General Sports Regulation 7 for regulations on non-interscholastic participation.
2.1) Individual Non-Interscholastic Competition Date:
A wrestling athlete who has not participated for the school in wrestling that season must cease non-interscholastic wrestling competition six weeks (42 days) prior to the Monday of the week of the first state individual
tournament in wrestling in order to be eligible for OHSAA Tournament competition.
Boys Date: January 6, 2025
Girls Date: January 6, 2025

Key phrase here is non-interscholastic participation. It shouldn't matter if it's freestyle, greco, or folk. Unless you ask Beau Rugg, then it'll be ok I'm sure.

exceptions will be made. I have gotten 2 different answers from OHSAA. I talked to two people on Saturday night about this very situation. They both said that you can not do college opens(both boys and girls). I then received an email on Tuesday and was told that because freestyle is different than folkstyle it would be ok. I dont agree with the two sets of rules.

That was my thought as well but the answer i got back was that freestyle does not count!

No, the answer was to contact the OHSAA. You try to get eligibility or weight clarification from a forum, you might get what is deserved.
Myself and others have been in contact with the administrators listed on the OHSAA page. Those administrators have said that freestyle competition is not recognized by the OHSAA. No one here was going off of the forum for clarification. Many have been told conflicting answers

so from what I am reading here. an athlete can wrestle in season competition schedule up to the alloted points. And then also wrestle a freestyle schedule as much as they choose.
