Elder this year

Is Tierney doing anything with the team. I'm sure he's not coaching, but is he coming to any of the practices or anything?

As of the scrimmage with Lakota East last night it is
Middles: Hanneken and Toth
Outsides: Averbeck and Friedmann
Setter: Buttelwerth
Libero: Bertke
Right: Baldrick
-It'll probably get changed up this weekend

elder isnt as good as i thought they would be at the start of the season. i expected to see a lot more out of baldrick and some other players. but the season just started and i know for sure that they'll end up somewhere in the state top ten eventually

when does elder play st. x

By the way, Elder is currently running a modified 6-2. Wessels sets from the front row, then Buttleworth comes in for him and sets from the back row, and Baldrick comes in to swing weak side. Seems to be working pretty well actually. Also, I dont know if it was just for matchup reasons or what, but Hanneken was taken out of the middle in favor of their 3rd middle (dont know his name) after the first game of the LS match.

I think that Moeller will win in 3... Elder getting between 18-22 in all three... you guys are all saying that they have made progress since the Card Classic, well now we will get to see if it is true

They have gotten better, but those will still be about the scores I think.

Elder destroyed Roger Bacon in 3 on Tuesday as JV and frosh also swept.

Elder then beat Centerville in a nice matchup in 4 on Wednesday losing the first 19-25, but then winning the next 3 in dominating fashion 25-10, 25-14, and 25-14. Elder looked very good and I look forward to the home matchup against St. X and away game at Moeller.

Is there any way for Elder and Moeller to met up in the state championship game this year? I think Elder will make it very far in the state tournament and probably will only have 1 or 2 more losses this year to Moeller and maybe another GCL team.

I was happy to see a cheering section there to cheer on the Panthers on Wednesday. Volleyball never gets even close to the cheering sections Basketball and Football get which is unfotunate because I find the games to be just as interesting. The Moeller vs Elder game at Elder was probably one of the best games I've gone to this year for Elder. Hopefully the students start showing up for the state tournament.

Moeller and Elder (or any 2 teams from the same region) can meet in state finals. Each region sends 2 teams to state and once at state, the teams can't meet until state finals. I'm guessing anybody who is anybody will want to stay out of Moeller's half of the region, so Elder will probably face the La Salle/St X winner in regional finals, then whoever wins should go on to face Moeller in finals.

Cool, thanks for that info. That would be amazing to see an Elder vs Moeller state final.

Also, that's quite amazing that Moeller has only lost 2 GAMES. That's crazy. I'm just glad Elder made them seem a bit human.

pretty sure state is something like

south (1) vs. north (2)
east (1) vs. west (2)

west (1) vs. east (2)
north (1) vs. south (2)

It rotates every year. Here's what it's been the past few years. I don't know if there's a pattern or what.

2004
N1 vs S2
W1 vs E2

E1 vs W2
S1 vs N2

2005
W1 vs S2
N1 vs E2

E1 vs N2
S1 vs W2

2006
E1 vs S2
W1 vs N2

N1 vs W2
S1 vs E2
*In 2006, Moeller played Darby and St X played Davidson in the quarters. I dont remember which team was the 1 seed from the South or the East.

So if it is a straight rotation, we'd go back to the same matchups as in '04 which were:

N1 vs S2
W1 vs E2

E1 vs W2
S1 vs N2

Potentially:
St Eds v Elder
Centerville v Kilbourne

Darby v CJ?
Moeller v Walsh?

even though i go to moeller, i gotta give credit for elder in this lol.
i lived in delhi when i grew up so i always like to show some pride in my hometown with elder. anyways the moe/elder game was very strongly fought by both sides. elder definitly had a large benefit from the crowd at home. the deciding factor i believe was the depth for moe but both teams are very good
