Early D3 Projections

Not trying to take a shot at Pizzuto but its easy to play defense, obviously couldn't score on Dillon and it was a shortened match I believe due to the rules, am i right or not?

I think I read where it was 1-1-1....with all restarts in the neutral position

You obviously were not there and didn't see the match. Pizzuto was in deep on Dillon a few times and was very close to a takedown or two before stale mates or going out of bounds. Both wrestlers are very good and Pizzuto weighed in 10 lbs lighter than Dillon. Do you have an axe to grind with this kid or what? Sounds like you are taking a shot at him every time you post something on here.

yah Boro Fan, Pizzuto was in deep on the shot forcing the action the whole time, Dillon played defense the whole time he funked out of Pizzuto shot and got 2 get your facts straight!!!!!!!

Boro may be taking shots at Pizzuto, but it sounds to me like you guys are making excuses for him. The bottom line is he didn't finish the takedowns. You guys said it yourselves. Maybe Dillon did play defense the whole match but in my opinion he did what he had to do to get the win. And a win is a win.

I'll say it again, If Pizzuto wants to win , he better go 112. I can't understand why he wouldn't He would be the projected state champ and it's his senior year. I've seen him wrestle many times over his 3 years, we're are from the same area, consider 112.

Tomasello (IMO) is #1 at 112 also, but since he wrestled at 103 at the Super 32 , maybe that is where he will be be. Republic knows a little more about the CVCA program than me. Pizzuto and Tomasello are both great wrestlers. For the poster above wondering who Dillon is, he finished 2nd in D1 in 2009 at 103 and 4th last year at 125 in Columbus. He wrestles for Boardman.

Sting:

You don't get gold medals for being a projected state champion. Why wouldn't Vinnie be able to have a chance to win at 119? I would assume Goebel will probably be the projected state champion but the two of them have proven to be just about dead even. Spangler should also be in the conversation because he has had some quality wins as well. There isn't a 112 lb class in NCAA D1 wrestling so he better get used to wrestling 119/125. I see you're point but he will be fine at 119. Pizzuto does need to finish the takedowns and he did lose that 3 min match but I would think that things could change when everyone makes weight and the season actually starts. All of these kids that have been mentioned are extremely talented and there is no way you can say one is head and shoulders above another.

Calm down Gentleman, last time I checked, pre season matches are long forgotton when the season starts. Hydration and weight certification is a focus right now for most of the wrestler's. Competition is fast approaching, and I for one, look forward to watching a ton of talent this season at D3. I look for Monroeville, Chanel, and CVCA, along with some other D3 teams to battle at Major Tourneys, and finish respectfully amongst the best teams and wrestler's in Tourneys. Just 4 days until the official season kicks off!

If Heminger is at 119 like some have predicted than I like him as the favorite. 3 time runner-up to 3 of the best D3 wrestlers of all time in both Stiebers and Tessari, he almost pinned Tessari too. His headlock is deadly.

Also we all might be sleeping on Branham from West Jeff at 119, he has to be a contender IMO

Do you think Branham can get down to 119 again? He looked like a HUGE 119 last season!

According to someone on here they said he was going 119 and he heard if from a coach at West Jeff so I'm going to take his word until the season starts.

Does Anyone know what weight Zon Fields will be at?

if goebel, pizzuto, or spangler decide to go 125, would they be the favorite with heminger going 119? 125 looks pretty weak.

I think you will see Branham at 119 and Fields at 103. Look for Heminger at 125 and Steiber at 135, Tessari at 140 with Clark going 145 for state.
