Dover football 2025

Would like to know the circumstances of Gardners dismissal and would be curious how well WH would have done without SWD, did he make WH really good or did WH make him really good. They also had some excellent talent going thru the program at the same time
I think this is the key point. He was non-renewed as a coach one year after the state semifinals appearance. Something happened, what was it? How bad was it? I think Dover has to do their homework on what happened before they hire him. You can’t question his track record but does the administration what to deal with whatever baggage he brings.

Ive known Zach since his days as DC at Indian Valley. He coached my son and he can be tough, but I respect him. Just hope that if Dover passes on him, they dont regret it and more importantly, he gets another shot somewhere else.

He'll coach somewhere else if Dover doesn't hire him. I'm pretty sure he passed up opportunities this year in the hopes the Dover job would come available.

I would say NO to anyone on staff if I was the one hiring. The defense has been terrible for a very long time. That the side of the ball. If you’re a defensive minded coach and that side of the ball is garbage year after year how are you going to be in charge of the whole team. Just because someone is good in sport does not make them a good coach. Kids and parents don’t think anyone on staff is ready yet.

I’m not sure if you’re right about the college coach. The one I know that put in his dad didn’t coach. Maybe there is two college guys that put in for it. I think there might be a few more that put in for it but I have no idea who they are. We all should know very soon once interviews start.

I’m sure Dover will hire someone on staff. Because that will be the easy for them to do. It’s not about resumes this day and age at Dover. It’s about who u know and if you’re connected to the rank and file.
I agree. Needs to be someone from the outside. The position coaches that coached The last few years on staff didn’t do a very good job coaching their positions. If they can’t coach their positions, I don’t see how they could be the head coach or qualified to be a head coach.

Anyone should be able to go to the athletic department and request a list of applicants and they should have to turn them over to whoever request them. It’s a public school and records.

Not public record. Out of respect to applicants you cannot make public when someone applies for another job especially when they already have one.
They use to put it in the paper all the time. There was a list of 27 people that applied for massllion job it was in the paper

Last I heard a special board meeting will be held about 1 week after the next scheduled meeting which I think is tomorrow so the 13th would be the earliest.

well at this rate Dover faithful will probably have an idea who their new coach will be by Monday I'd think

so any more word on if Judkins is transferring, could that be playing any kind of role in the expediency of getting a coach installed?

He is a solid player. Would hate to see him leave Dover.

Technically, since schools are public institutions, I am pretty sure the applications are public record. I could be wrong though. When newspapers were much more local they often listed the applicants for jobs.
I know that there were times in the past when newspapers did request applicants and post them in the paper. I haven't seen it done in a while, but yes, it would be public record and could be obtained by requesting emails from whoever the materials were to be sent to be able to see who applied, in theory.

Here is an example, scroll towards the bottom of the old Todd Porter Sunday Special here. https://www.cantonrep.com/story/spo...day-special-hoover-opening-draws/35199517007/

Seems like it can be requested.

Schools don't ask for applications, they ask to send a resume and cover letter, because they are not attached to an application it skirts the rules. Somebody tried pulling these names years ago when Minerva hired their most recent HC and they got nothing because the district wasn't obligated to produce those things

My question would Dover not want to disclose this or let it get out to the public. For the fact that some people would be upset with the pick if someone else seemed better on paper.
