Do you believe we will be able to travel through time some day via Quantum Physics?

By the way one of my favorite Michael Crichton books, "Timeline" was about this topic. The movie makers blew it when they made this one into a movie. They missed a golden opportunity to make "Quantum foam makes me roam!" a real catch phrase. ?

I don't think we will be able to travel through time and affect the timeline. If it were possible, we would already see examples of it. Knowing where something valuable was discovered, a time traveler could go back one year earlier to discover it. The next time traveler could go back another year earlier. This could go on indefinitely. We wouldn't have a linear upward trend of technological discoveries. All things ever created would be available to anyone at anytime. So I don't see how time travel could be possible with the ability to alter events.

What I do think may be possible would be to travel through time undetected and become witnesses to history. All the great mysteries could be solved with this as yet undiscovered time travel mechanism. There could even become a time travel tourist industry.

I don't think so. But if you have a computer powerful enough to compute all the matter and energy in the universe and their placement, you could probably recreate the past and view it or turn into some kind of virtual reality thing

I admit up front that I am a Christian who believes in heaven and hell. I've held for a long time what hell would be like. But heaven has stumped me. I finally came up with a heaven of multiple dimensions, including time travel, flying, etc. As far as time travel on earth while we are living, I don't expect that it will occur, but if it did it would be tightly regulated.

I believe some day it may be possible. What form it takes and would someone traveling in time really be able to change historical events I don't know but sicence gets crazier by the day. With the advent of things like AI and 3-D printing I believe it's only time before someone dissects the world of quantum physics to the point they find a way to cross that timeline and travel through time.

One could get philosophical then and ask another question, is it morally right to be able to cross that timeline? I'll let someone else ask that question.

No. Too many causality issues (such as the Grandfather paradox) make time travel impossible, unless there are an infinite number of timelines, which I don't believe.

Grandfather paradox: a time traveler travels back in time and kills his grandfather before his father (or mother) are born. Then the time traveler wouldn't exist to begin with and couldn't travel back into time.

Time travel.....

well, if we look at the stars we are seeing the past. Now, if we are capable of time traveling that means we could go in either direction but this would be the problem.

1) we would be able to time travel but not be able to change or disrupt anything.... people would pass through us and we would not be able to physically move anything. Basically, we are not actually there. We would be like ghosts.....

2) we can physically go back in time but at the exact point we do it that timeline branches off which means we can no longer return back to our present time but instead head towards an alternate future based on the changes caused by our appearance in the past.

Now the tricky thing is that since everything happens simultaneously in our reality of time the past, present, and future are all occurring and can be seen from a view point of a higher dimensional being as a trace. Actually, I would much rather be watching Dazed and Confused then to be thinking about this.....

Come on, it is pretty simple if you just think about it..... all you have to do is listen to Frank and Grandma Death!

The Primary Universe is fraught with great peril. War, plague, famine and natural disaster are common. Death comes to us all. The Fourth Dimension of Time is a stable construct, though it is not impenetrable. Incidents when the fabric of the fourth dimension becomes corrupted are incredibly rare. If a Tangent Universe occurs, it will be highly unstable, sustaining itself for no longer than several weeks. Eventually it will collapse upon itself, forming a black hole within the Primary Universe capable of destroying all existence.

Water and Metal are the key elements of Time Travel. Water is the barrier element for the construction of Time Portals used as gateways between Universes as the Tangent Vortex. Metal is the transitional element for the construction of Artifact Vessels.

When a Tangent Universe occurs, those living nearest to the Vortex, will find themselves at the epicenter of a dangerous new world. Artifacts provide the first sign that a Tangent Universe has occurred. If an Artifact occurs, the Living will retrieve it with great interest and curiosity. Artifacts are formed from metal, such as an Arrowhead from an ancient Mayan civilization, or a Metal Sword from Medieval Europe. Artifacts returned to the Primary Universe are often linked to religious Iconography, as their appearance on Earth seems to defy logical explanation. Divine intervention is deemed the only logical conclusion for the appearance of the Artifact.

The Living Receiver is chosen to guide the Artifact into position for its journey back to the Primary Universe. No one knows how or why a Receiver will be chosen. The Living Receiver is often blessed with a Fourth Dimensional Powers. These include increased strength, telekinesis, mind control, and the ability to conjure fire and water. The Living Receiver is often tormented by terrifying dreams, visions and auditory hallucinations during his time within the Tangent Universe. These surrounding the Living Receiver, known as the Manipulated, will fear him and try to destroy him.

The Manipulated Living are often the close friends and neighbors of the Living Receiver. They are prone to irrational, bizarre, and often violent behavior. This is the unfortunate result of their task, which is to assist the Living Receiver in returning the Artifact to the Primary Universe. The Manipulated Living will do anything to save themselves from Oblivion.

The Manipulated Dead will set an Ensurance Trap. The Living Receiver must ensure the fate of all mankind.

The Manipulated Dead are more powerful than the Living Receiver. If a person dies within the Tangent Dimension, they are able to contact the Living Receiver through the Fourth Dimensional Construct. The Fourth Dimensional Construct is made of Water. The Manipulated Dead will manipulate the Living Receiver using the Fourth Dimensional Construct. The Manipulated Dead will often set an Ensurance Trap for the Living Receiver to ensure that the Artifact is returned safely to the Primary Universe. If the Ensurance Trap is successful, the Living Receiver is left with no choice but to use his Fourth Dimensional Power to send the Artifact back in time into the Primary Universe before the Black hole collapses upon itself.

When the Manipulated awaken from their Journey into the Tangent Universe, they are often haunted by the experience in their dreams. Many of them will not remember. Those who do remember the Journey are often overcome with profound remorse for the regretful actions buried within their Dreams, the only physical evidence buried within the Artifact itself, all that remains from the lost world. Ancient myth tells us of the Mayan Warrior killed by an Arrowhead that had fallen from a cliff, where there was no Army, no enemy to be found. We are told of the Medieval Knight mysteriously impaled by sword he had not yet built. We are told that these things occur for a reason.

Ask a fool question ........

well no seriously. The closer you are traveling to speed of light, the 1000 years that passed back home is years or less to you, depending upon how close your speed to c. Traveling forward in time. I thought that was generally known? That's special law, not general law. Pythagorean all that's needed to understand it. Not quantum. There are the psychological aspect of moving forward in time that also get studied. In theory, the peson swinging at a fastball is seeing where it was, not where it is. Not refering to the negligible affects of speed of light so much as the time it takes the senses to record what it sees, that info to travel the synapses, be processed, interpreted, then tell the body what to do about it. By that time, the ball isn't even close to where you perceive it, yet, it gets hit. Time comes in many forms. That's amateur reading. I really wonder what those studying at high levels know. To them, it's distance. No different than up-down, left-right. I can't think that way.

Mass also disrupts time. The bigger the object the slower time moves near it. It has to do with the gravitational force of the object which bends space time.

Well, duh. I thought everybody knew that.
