DLS final game this regular season is against neighborhood rival Ygnacio Valley

it is 41-0 at half

DLS has outscored its 9 opponents this year 279-14 in the first half

that is an average of 31 - 1.5

hopefully not a repeat of last year

my wife's birthday is in mid december and I threw her a nice bday party with about 25 guests but didnt realize until it was too late that is was the night of the state bowl games, which I taped and glanced at occasionally but DLS was beaten handily

this year she has a important birthday and we decided to spend th eweekend in Las Vegas after getting great air fares and hotel rates

oops, weekend of the state bowl games

this time will have to record but won't be able to monitor

if DLS makes it this year, I will not be in tune as to who won until after the game

darn

Consumerman,

That's just more evidence of problems with the California playoff system.

Since they didn't start any kind of playoffs before last year, you ended up marrying someone who has a birthday during state championships week (although I am sure she is wonderful).

In Texas, which has had state playoffs for years, that would never happen.

I am sure there are a lot of Texas women with birthdays during state championships week who never married. When people ask them why, they say "birthday during state championships week" and everyone else says "oh, that's a shame."

I guess I could have gazed into the future when I married her because at
that time in 2001-02 the California bowl games were just a gleam in someone's eye.

Her birthday is exaclty two weeks before Xmas (on a Tuesday I believe this year) so I looked at traveling the weeekend before and the weekend after and the rates were about 40% cheaper the weekend after.

I always felt sorry for people with birthdays near other holidays (my mom's is in May - Mother's Day and my father's was in mid-June - Father's Day, sister's was at the end of November - Thanksgiving, my aunt who just passed was born on Haloween), especially Xmas. I also never liked those who got married on say New Years Eve or July 4th so they would celebrate every year on a day every one else celebrates for a different reason.

I love my birthday being in early March (not remotely close to any other holiday) and with limited choices available (we had to get married within 90 days of her arrival in USA) we chose early OCtober - again not remotely close to any other holiday.

So if DLS makes it this year, I wont be on top of the tv watching it. We plan on having a great time. Not sure if a formal fancy dinner will be done (Spago, Emerils Fish House, Ruth's Chris, etc.) or a show (2 of the Cirque De Soleil shows we were interested in will be in the middle of once a year vacations) or maybe a simple but perfect HUGE pastrami sandwich at the Stage Deli in the Mirage, or maybe a buffet at the Rio.

But not glued to a TV Set.

oh well
