D1 Remaining Teams

Literally, Elder is sitting on a gold mine of success if they simply make a few small tweaks in how they operate.

I know they see it as selling out, but it's not. That's literally the pride and stubbornness hump that they cannot get over. It's simply expanding their narrow philosophy and opening themselves up a little. They are right on the cusp. Expanding their scope in addition to the mindset of these feeder kids would make them a force to be reckoned with. Those kids will fight you to the death.

@Omar is dead right about this.

For crying out loud.....

I suggested you start your own thread in the debate forum about your gripes regarding Elder. You did, however, that seems to have withered on the vine so now you resort to hijacking threads that have nothing to do with the overall strategy of the school..... One of those threads was dormant for three years.

This is your third attempt to hijack a thread outside of the thread you set up. Take it back to the thread you set up.

Better yet, march your backside down to the school and take it up directly with the powers that be. If you are concerned about stepping onto private property, stand on the corner, with a sign listing your gripes. You'll have all the people you desire to complain to.

It's been 10 years and at least 6 user names on here..... enough is enough.

Now, back to the teams who are left in D1.......

Should be some great matchups.

Mason scored 6 in the top of the first against the Elder ace who clearly was not his day. The key point going into tomorrow’s Mason/Moeller game in my opinion is that The Mason Coach pulled his ace after two innings trying to save him for tomorrow with an 8-0 lead and Elder scored 4 and he had to put his #1 back in to finish the inning. The kid wound up throwing almost 100 pitches to finish the game. I do not think he will be available for tomorrow.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a big fan of Mason, but I think Moe has the better overall team.

Mason does have a handful of pitchers available for tomorrow, but I think the line-up for Moe is too tough. However, it's a game that can go either way. Moe has Theophiuis is their back pocket. Picking with my heart.

Mason - 5
Moe - 4

9 innings

Why Is the regional game tomorrow and not Saturday? I just don't understand. Anyway, Mason has more than one really good pitcher. They have like 3 of them and they have about 5 or 6 solid D1 prospects/commits. Maybe even more by now. I think the talent equates with Moeller this year. But the question is will the Mason coach play the type of game necessary to win tomorrow? How well has Moeller been scouted? What is the game plan both hitting and pitching? When a team gets to this level, coaching is super important and I have my concerns with Mason's coach.

I do not follow Mason baseball but if the pitcher the Mason coach brought in to take over for the #1 is not a 2or3 then he was taking an unnecessary risk even with an 8-0 lead.

I agree that they pulled Hanley too soon, but also had no issue with him finishing out the game. There was also no reason to bring in your #2 or 3 in an 8 run game knowing Hanley could return to the mound. If I'm not mistaken, Eggleton came in relief.

As previously mentioned, Mason has PLENTY of arms left for tomorrow (several with sub 2 ERAs with a good amount of innings), and it really doesn't matter who starts, because the kitchen sink will be used knowing the final four isn't until next week. They can literally use everyone but Hanley tomorrow. They're in a great spot but Moe's lineup is dynamite. They're going to need everyone.

Basically, you treat tomorrow like game 7 of the World Series.

No, he won't be available. I would guess they throw Bilo today. I don't see them beating Moeller.

Moeller and Mason played earlier this year, and Bilo more than handled himself for multiple innings. Ben Hanley did as well. I agree that Mason has the pitching staff to compete. I think it might come down to coaching decisions and how the game played out. Mason had multiple chances to win earlier this season. Who's to say they couldn't do that today?

100%

They've been predominantly playing the regionals back to back for over 20 years.
I guess but why? We stretch the tourney out too long and then play back-to-back games for the Regional championship. The teams aren't traveling like they are for the State (Oh yea, and I guess Miami and UC aren't worried about hosting like OSU is), I just think they should give a day in between due to pitch count rules.

Disappointed to not see them matched up with Olentangy Berlin, but maybe they will meet in the finals. Berlin plays Twinsburg in one semi

Mason 3-0 on a no hitter by Michael Bilo---
Well done Mason. If one paid attention to the way Mason was playing this year, they consistently allowed very few runs. They did not really blow teams out but it would be scores like 4 to 1, 5 to 0, 6 to 2. Their pitching and defense have been incredible all year. I hope they can continue to play well and bring back that allusive state championship. A little more offense would be helpful too.;)

Kudos to the Comets. They were the better team for the last half of the season. Moe had some offensive challenges with Sophomores in the 3 and 4 hole but give credit where credit is due. The Comet pitching staff was equal or better to what Moeller had and there is no question thar the Comet offense packed more offensive punch than the Crusaders. Moe is young and will be back but for now, Mason undoubtedly is the best team that SW Ohio has. Well done.

The coaches pushed for this years ago.

I kind of like playing back-to-back regional games because it shows what teams are still state caliber contenders even when their number one isn't pitching. State champion contenders typically have that depth, and these two teams certainly had that. Just two outstanding rosters.

You never know what can happen with baseball in one game.

Mason/Moeller was a great sequel to the earlier matchup this year. Great pitching duel to start the game. The difference to this was Bilo was untouchable, constantly moving the ball around the strikezone and changing speeds. Zion seemed to rely on his velocity, but his lack of control got the better of him last night. A few wild pitches, past balls, and dropped 3rd strikes allowed the Comets to get runners on base and run all over them once they were there. Great clutch hits by Hanley, Sulek, and Stevens. Fun game to watch and very happy for these Mason boys. I've watched a lot of them play since they were 8. Great to see how far they've come, and they're not done yet. Fun week of baseball ahead for them.

Just like Football and Basketball, Elder beats up on bad team's early in the playoff's, and gets then gets smoked vs. real competition.

How did this work out for you? Moeller had the most talent in the state in Football, Basketball, and Baseball and they got 0 to show for it. Cherry pick the best public school kids from around Moeller with a lot of top Catholic school kids and you still can't win. Usually I root for a GCL school when Elder gets knocked out, but when I read comments like this it put a big smile on my face when I saw Mason pulled the upset.

Moe just went 18-0 vs GCL in the 3 big sports. Have had the best athletic program in Cincinnati the past 3-4 years. They don't cherry pick the best talent, and they aren't the most talented team in Ohio in Football, basketball and baseball. In the past 10 years, they have had final Max Prep Nationally Ranked teams the Football, Basketball and Football and have won back to back state titles in all 3 major sports. Who else in Ohio can make that claim? Zero to show for it, and still can't win?

The coach got those teenagers to settle in for some pretty controlled, sound baseball yesterday. Considering who they were facing on the mound I thought they looked extremely poised and loose. His teams have knocked Moeller out of the tournament in ‘18, ‘22, and now ‘24 so hopefully your concerns have been put to rest. 👍

There's that Elder inferiority complex we all know and love.

Literally, the level of sports success Moe has had in Cincinnati and within the GCL in all sports over the last few seasons has rarely been seen before in Cincinnati HS sports history. But leave it to you Elder homers to make comments like this.

Everything I've said about the westside psyche is 150% right. It's hilarious to witness. It's so funny to witness a group of people wanting something SOOO much yet continuing to degrade people who actually have the stones to go after it.
