Yes!! Down goes Hoban.... Congrats Eagles
As I mentioned I went to Hoban and obviously a big fan but I want to congratulate Avon. They dominated Hoban upfront on both sides of the ball and deserved to win. I think they take it all next week. I think Hoban will be back next year but they are going to have to develop a passing attack if they want to win a state championship. The announcers tonight said over and over again that Avon was putting 7 and 8 guys in the box. The numbers 5 blocking against 7 and 8 just isn't going to work.

When he evaluates film, I'm sure he does...but in the back of his mind those five losses are there.
Congrats that team is a pleasure to watch. Enjoy!! An immense amount of appreciation and respect for the Avon football community. Celebrate then finish it next week and celebrate again.

Alright guys, I made an account on Yappi because I’ve just about had it with Hoban. If we go back to the 2015, 2016, 2017 state teams they would want to tear the other opponents face off. Absolute psycho paths on the field. Now a days it’s all about Instagram, Twitter, and posting how many offers you have. This team is soft. No questions about it.
Who cares about Hoban tonight. Go away.

Lack of discipline and effort. Seems like they’ve become satisfied No h

Because they have been arguably the most decorated program over the past decade in Ohio football. 35 points is probably the most that has been scored on them since 2014. They’re losing their edge.
You can thank Hoban for elevating Ohio high school football to national attention accompanying Ed’s, St. X, etc. Regardless of who you’re a fan of, Hoban has been the talking point of OHSAA football for 8+ years now.

Region 2 as you said "tonight". Do think that they wont be back next year with a vengeance. Laugh now cry later. Yeah they lost and people are happy about that. Remember when the one team wonders would blow ever body out and run up the score? Not that this was the case the better team won. Congrats. But the next year might be a different story. Stay humble my friend.

What has Hoban done to elevate the state nationally? Get blasted at home by Archbishop Spaulding?

And slowly slipping each year. I would start with a HS level OC. It’s time to scrap the 6th grade CYO playbook.

What about beating Don Bosco prep? And going 3-1 out of state this season. And being listed on several Max Prep “Game’s of the week” nationally. And being ranked top 25 nationally several times over the last 5-7 years. And having D1 players play everywhere from the East Coast to West Coast and everywhere in between. This is coming from a public school fan, who is not personally a fan of the way private schools operate athletically. Just calling a spade a spade.

What about the game this year?
Yeah to deny that Hoban hasn’t elevated Ohio HS football nationally is just a crazy take lol

Its funny how the tide turns. Do some on here remember when St. V's was the team in Akron? They dominated. They went 1-9 this year. Iggy was the best team in the nation at one point. How did Hoban make such a rise. I remember when they weren't even considered a good football team. I'm just curious what was the turn around because if I'm not mistaken up until somewhere in the mid 2000's they peaked. What happened? I still think with Tyrell they will be a staple of Ohio High School Football. Or has their time come to fall of the map of greatness? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hoban the last 7 years.

Lost in the Final 4

I would agree that they arent the Hoban of several years ago. But they were a dropped pass away from winning it all last year.
Hoban had a couple of stud, big defensive lineman last year that just dominated. This year's line was not nearly as good. Also Hoban's offense was much more prolific the years they won the state championship. In the 5 wins in the state title games they scored 32, 30, 35 , 42 and 42 points. In the playoff losses 10, 2, 14, 10, 21,. I don't think it's just one thing with the offense. I think it's the quarterback, playcalling, scheme, philosophy, lack of execution, lack of adjustments, too predictable etc.

As long as Tyrell is there they will always be a powerhouse. But you’re right, until the first title in 2015 no one outside of Akron really knew Hoban. Coach Tyrell and their strength coach at the time is what turned Hoban around. They also had an incredible 2016 (seniors on 2015 team) class that paved the way for years to come.

They’ve been finding new and undisplined ways to lose this decade. Now getting pushed around. And that offense. Yikes

And some outstanding CYO leaders on that 1st state champ team. That’s a distant memory now.

Thanks for your input. I'm a Kennedy guy, but I'm also a Harding guy. Matty Rich is a Dude. I would love to see St.V's come back. Hoban be the team they should be and Warren Harding make some noise. Your cool. Hopefully some Massillon hijacks our conversation.
