Concerts. 2021 and beyond.

AND here ya go!

Youngstown Amphitheater August 14th..............................Vanilla Ice!

Girlies on stand by, waving just to say Hi.

The wife and I are going to watch Leonid and Friends outside of Chicago in early July. They are an insanely good Chicago cover band. If you haven't heard of them and you like the early 1970s-style Chicago (ie, Terry Kath, Robert Lamm, Peter Cetera etc...) then check out this cover band on YouTube. It will blow you away how a bunch of middle-aged Russian world-class musicians can make music!

Love me some old school Chicago, unfortunately like Journey this was a band that decided to sell out because the lead singer only wanted to go in a pop direction. Terry Kath was one of the best guitarists that never got his due. I saw some guitar mag call this the best wah wah solo in the history of rock>

I know Ill take a hit for this, but I dont care.
I enjoy Luke Bryan's Farm Tour and he is coming to Ohio in Sept again. It was a blast.....big open air concert out in some guys field in the middle of BFE....(and I have been, literally, to a BFE.......B-f Ethiopia)

Damn........Kiss, GNR, possibitity of Slaughter/Vixen, Maybe Garth......maybe the Farm Tour all in less than four weeks.

Interesting mini tour route. Vaccinations are not required for these in door shows, in fact they are frowned upon. Didn't take EC as an anti-vaccer.

I could listen to that for hours...

Interesting show only has 1 area appearance, The Gilmour Project>

All-Star Band Explores The Music of David Gilmour’s Pink Floyd; Exclusive 50th Anniversary of Pink Floyd’s Original 1972 Tour ‘Dark Side of The Moon: A Piece For Assorted Lunatics.’

The Gilmour Project will celebrate the exact & actual 50th Anniversary of ‘Dark Side Of The Moon: A Piece For Assorted Lunatics,’ which Pink Floyd first performed in January, 1972 at The Brighton Dome, UK, a full 14 months before the release of the legendary album, with a coast-to-coast, US tour in January, 2022. They will perform and explore this masterwork in its entirety as ‘Dark Side Of The Moon, Pieces For Assorted Lunatics,’ honoring the legendary band. With their focus on David Gilmour’s Pink Floyd repertoire, The Gilmour Project will do a deep dive into the exploration & improvisation that only Gilmour could create. This rendition certainly does not dismiss the iconic contributions of all 5 historic musicians that comprise the Pink Floyd complement, only to bring light to philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, innovative art, and of course, elaborate live shows.

The Gilmour Project incorporates musicians whose background is both prog(ressive) improvisational; and, is the only band since Blue Floyd in 2000, endeavoring to take these songs ‘OUT,’ speaking in jazz protocol, without disregarding the cherished classic hooks, licks & musical phrases. Acclaimed musicians Jeff Pevar (lead guitar with CSN, David Crosby, Phil Lesh, Ray Charles), Kasim Sulton (bass & vocals with Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, Meatloaf, Blue Oyster Cult, Hall & Oates, Cheap Trick & Patti Smith), Prairie Prince (co-founder of The Tubes, & drums with Todd Rundgren, Jefferson Starship, Phil Lesh), Mark Karan (guitar & vocals with Bob Weir, RatDog, The Other Ones), and Scott Guberman (keyboard & vocals with Phil Lesh), will take the music of David Gilmour & Pink Floyd to places it has never gone before.

Jan 16 – MGM Northfield Park – Northfield, OH
Jan 17 – Rock Hall ‘Media’ – Cleveland, OH

See where Quiet Riot announced a tour.

But no original members are still invovled.

Can that even still be considered QR?

No.

You don't really see Heavy Metal acts doing this bit of false advertising. This is a trick the Motown groups use when out on the road though, I think the name is owned by the label and not the folks that were actually in the band.

I remember reading an interview where Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins floated the idea that a band eventually becomes sort of a brand that gets passed to new members who continue making music and performing under the same name, keeping the core instrumental style along the way. No way the Pumpkins could do that and I'm struggling to think of a band that could do that now. The sound, the style, and the band's culture would have to be the selling point, not the individuals. I don't know how else to put it, but I guess your band in a way becomes the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I guess Earth, Wind, and Fire kinda do that and could continue. KISS? Gwar?

Kiss has talked about that I believe. Getting replacements for Gene and Paul in the future.

To me, they are already 50% cover band. If they replace Gene and Paul they would be 100% a cover band. IMO.

Thank God they retired the Grateful Dead name when Jerry Garcia passed in '95. Now they have gone out under different names with different combos of original members since but they wanted to avoid the above mentioned Motown issue and look like a cash grab on the original name. Currently they are touring as Dead & Company and it was a brilliant move adding John Mayer to the line up for the lead guitar/2nd vocalist spot, the amount of younger Mayer fans joining their parents at shows is amazing and creating new Dead Heads. Slicko manager Irving Azoff did came as part of the package and some Heads are not thrilled at the marketing the guy has done to fill up the ballparks for multiple nights but then again it never stinks printing some cash to employ family and friends on the road plus beefing up the grand kids education fund.

I've learned alot from the Trunk Nation show on SXM about who owns rights and such and how ya can fire certain guys. I loved QR growing up but all this can be is a tribute band

For those that like music and have satellite radio Volume is a great station, basically a sports talk format for music. Hear a lot of news and debate on music coming from different perspectives. Trunk is probably the most opinionated; I really dig his crusade that pre-taped vocals during live shows is a big no no and there should be a disclaimer when used.

Trunk always pushes his show on that channel I believe.
Hear his rant against the name Hair Band? he has a point, but most see that as era defining and love the genre.

That should bring a huge crowd.
They definitely will.

Thinking of doing Milwaukee Summerfest this year, has anyone here ever done this music festival before?

Never done this, but the lineup looks legit. Something for close to every taste littered between the different stages. Sign me up for Chappelle too!
