Coaches caught on camera storming field at youth game about age of player

This needs to be covered by a sports station. GMA doesn't seem to understand the sport. That was not a line drive, rather, just a two hop hard grounder. Assuming this is 10U softball, I've seen far harder hits than that by players much smaller. The coaches were out of control and I assume that this was not a very competitive level of the game for that ground ball to set them off.

Demanding to see a birth certificate? Who walks around with a birth certificate?
It absolutely floors me when adults see a child who is bigger than their peers and/or advanced in skill that somehow somebodys cheating.
I'll bet the coach doesnt think he did anything wrong. He might say the correct things to the right people, but he probably thought he was protecting his girls

Many of these tournaments require teams to carry their birth certificates with them. It doesn't happen often but when it does, it is usually handled in a much more mature way.

The problem is that people do cheat. I've seen it twice in baseball. We played a baseball game about 12 years ago in the 14U division. A much bigger "kid" played in the second game of a double-header after they lost the first game badly. He was a monster player that pitched and was their biggest hitter. Of course, they won the second game. The kid had a very unique name and a couple days later, there was an article about him saving the life of someone stuck in a car that he saw stuck in a ditch when he drove by. The article said he was a 16 year old Junior in high school.

He was a star athlete in a couple other sports. His older brother was the baseball coach and was mad about losing a Fall ball game so he decided to cheat. Probably did it more than just against us.

Every select tournament I've coached in requires a copy to be on hand in case someone disputes age. If an opposing coach disputes, and we can't provide the birth certificate, then either A. Kid is ejected B. Team forfeits that game or C. Both.

Most tournaments require a fee to dispute age (usually between $50-$150) that they have to pay the tournament director or someone. A coach in our organization used to get called out a lot because she had a player like the one in the video; tall, strong, and was a pitcher. She LOVED it when another coach would dispute age, and she'd throw it in their face the rest of the game.
