Closed schools thread.

Cleveland South Highschool Flyers down off of Broadway had some nice teams back in the late 80's. If I remember they had one of those coaches that was there FOREVER.

Cadiz, Hopedale, Jewett, Scio - Harrison Central

Adena, Brilliant, Mt. Pleasant, Dillonvale, Smithfield, Yorkville, Tiltonsville - Buckeye Local

Powhatan - Part of River (Hannibal)
Hopedale consolidated with Cadiz in 1971. Jewett and Scio eventually merged. Cadiz (Cardinals) and Jewett-Scio (Vikings) consolidated along with Lakeland (Raiders) to form Harrison Central.

Sardis, Hannibal, Clairington, and Laings initially formed River. I do not believe any played football prior to consolidation. Powhatan consolidated into River in 1969.

Woodsfield and Skyvue - Monroe Central

Lima South and Lima Central merged to form Lima Senior in 1955.

Lima St Rose and Lima St Johns merged in 1956 to form Lima Central Catholic. St Gerard was forced to consolidate into LCC in 1957.

Going back to the late 1940s there was Euclid Central and Euclid Shore. I believe the current high school is on the Euclid Shore site.
I am almost sure the Shore H.S. site is not the current high school. It's the "Shore Cultural Center" which is used by the city and other groups.

Never understood why Parna Senior was closed. It was the original and oldest. Guess the Normandy and Valley Forge had all the yes voters!
Parma Senior closed because it was the oldest building. I think I had read if they eventually pass whatever levy/bond they need passed, that may end up being the site of the new/consolidated high school. Yes, Normandy is around in part because that was the constituency that had to be placated the most.

In addition, Warren had St. Peter & Paul High School which fielded a basketball team. The church had a K thru 12 school. My sister had her reception in the gymnasium back in the day.

Warren Market was a school for "special needs" students. The school fielded a basketball team back in the day.
I have a WGH souvenir program from a Massillon-Warren football game during that era. There was an ad from the Warren City School District, where it mentioned Warren Market. Thanks for responding and the info.

Greenhills played the Galion Tigers in 1985 Division II State Semifinal with Galion winning to take on Ytown 's Cardinal Mooney in Title Game. Tigers showed Ytown what was up.

I believe Lima Senior very 1st Football game was against Fremont Ross. Ross was in middle of 29-0-1 from 1955-1957

In southeastern Indiana (Greater Cincinnati) in the 1950's, North Dearborn + Guilford High School + maybe more combined to form East Central High School. My dad, who's 92 now, still brags often about having the highest GPA in the history of Guilford High School.
