Cleveland South Highschool Flyers down off of Broadway had some nice teams back in the late 80's. If I remember they had one of those coaches that was there FOREVER.
Maybe Fred Oblak? Ignatius grad and coached South from 60's into early 90s or something like that.Cleveland South Highschool Flyers down off of Broadway had some nice teams back in the late 80's. If I remember they had one of those coaches that was there FOREVER.

Hopedale consolidated with Cadiz in 1971. Jewett and Scio eventually merged. Cadiz (Cardinals) and Jewett-Scio (Vikings) consolidated along with Lakeland (Raiders) to form Harrison Central.Cadiz, Hopedale, Jewett, Scio - Harrison Central

Never understood why Parna Senior was closed. It was the original and oldest. Guess the Normandy and Valley Forge had all the yes voters!Probably the most recent school to close:
Parma Senior
I am almost sure the Shore H.S. site is not the current high school. It's the "Shore Cultural Center" which is used by the city and other groups.Going back to the late 1940s there was Euclid Central and Euclid Shore. I believe the current high school is on the Euclid Shore site.
Parma Senior closed because it was the oldest building. I think I had read if they eventually pass whatever levy/bond they need passed, that may end up being the site of the new/consolidated high school. Yes, Normandy is around in part because that was the constituency that had to be placated the most.Never understood why Parna Senior was closed. It was the original and oldest. Warren Market was a school for "special needs" students. The school fielded a basketball team back in the day.For our Warren friends. During the 1960’s-1970’s there was school named Warren Market. Can you shed any light on that school?
I have a WGH souvenir program from a Massillon-Warren football game during that era. There was an ad from the Warren City School District, where it mentioned Warren Market. Thanks for responding and the info.Warren Market was a school for "special needs" students. The school fielded a basketball team back in the day.

I believe Lima Senior very 1st Football game was against Fremont Ross. Ross was in middle of 29-0-1 from 1955-1957Lima South and Lima Central merged to form Lima Senior in 1955.
Lima St Rose and Lima St Johns merged in 1956 to form Lima Central Catholic. St Gerard was forced to consolidate into LCC in 1957.

Unfortunately that ship sailed when the state was handing out money for new schools back in the early 2000s. Several schools in western Ohio should have been forced to consolidate. There is probably much more consolidation that should happen, but that is rarely a popular opinion for residents in these small rural areas.
Indeed, that week one game in 1955 was the Spartans first-ever football game. The Little Giants won 20-6, the first win in a 30 game unbeaten streak for Ross.I believe Lima Senior very 1st Football game was against Fremont Ross. Ross was in middle of 29-0-1 from 1955-1957
