Closed schools thread.

Back in the JJHuddle days there was a thread about the history of closed high schools in Ohio. Can that be posted here?

That'd be interesting. A few I can think of , Mingo Junction, Ledgemont, Newbury, Hiram, alot of the consolidated ones!
Always wondered about Mingo Junction. My Alma mater lost to them in baseball in 1993 at state. Who did they consolidate with?

I often drive by the old Blume High School in Wapakoneta. It is now an apartment building, where I think you get lower rent if you are an alumni of the old Blume school.

Germantown
Farmersville
Colonel White High School (Dayton)
Fairview High School (Dayton)
Kiser High School (Dayton)
Roth High School (Dayton)
Steele High School (Dayton)
Wilbur Wright High School (Dayton)

Nice list, but unfortunately could possibly post all. I know many in Portage County are not on the list. A few being; Atwater, Randolph, Charlestown, Paris, Palmyra, Edinburg, Deerfield, Hiram, Suffield, Mantua-Shalersville to name a few. Most of these consolidated back in the 1950's 60's.

Mercer County off the top of my head:

Burkettsville- St Henry

Immaculate Conception Spartans- Closed in the Early 70's

Holy Trinity- Closed in the 1940's I believe

Maria Stein St John Blue Jays later became Marion

Mendon-Union Pirates- Parkway

Neptune- Celina

St Anthony Trojans- Coldwater

St Peter-St Joe Maggots- Fort Recovery (was this actually a school @IndianaBanana?)

Philothea- Coldwater

Rockford Tigers- Parkway

Washington Twp- Celina

There's been a couple good threads over the years about these. I always liked driving by the old schools and finding the fields. Brilliant is probably one of the most 'identifiable' old fields. Still has one goal post up and the entire home stand. Mingo lost their field beside the plant.
