Cleveland Guardians

Why are we shopping Lane Thomas? The Guardians spent how long looking for a CF - a month ago we thought they had a long term solution to the CF problem in Thomas - now he's on the block? Don't create a hole where there wasn't one.

And don't move Kwan to CF. Leave him TF alone in LF already.

I don't get this game or this team sometimes.

I may be in mild seasonal depression but more & more I feel like 2025 is going to be a "regression to the mean" year - 70-75 wins, unless some encouraging moves are made. Too many question marks in the starting rotation. Tigers and Royals are surging. It feels like the team is standing pat while everyone else who's a contender is improving. And, with Tito, it feels like the Reds are the new hungry team in Ohio.

It may be a bit early and there's still time to make some moves. But a trade involving Thomas shouldn't be one of them.

Organization is a joke.

Thomas is a Gold Glove type guy, and a 20/75 guy as a CF.

That’s good enough for me.

Everything this team does is about not spending money when players come due for a new contract.

Trade Josh Naylor?

How many hundred RBI guys are out there that you can get cheap?

Hope I didn't pick the wrong season to start our 20 game plan. Sigh

There are 14 million reasons why the Dolans want to trade Naylor. And 7.8 million reasons to trade Thomas. Those are the projected arbitration salaries for those guys. Even keeping those guys, the team total payroll is projected at 100 million total. Well below MLB average, which last year was over $150 million.

It is a travesty that one of the wealthiest ownership groups in the MLB refuses to have a payroll at or near the MLB average, at least. Dolan is ranked 4th - 6th, depending on sources, approx 5.5 Billion net worth.

My Reds are in the same boat in terms of team salary, except our ownership group is truly poverty level. Castellini is at or near the bottom with a net worth about 400 million. We just want the Castellini clan to sell to an actual billionaire so that we can join the fun.

Horwitz scouting report- a classic bat-first prospect, with major league-caliber hitting skills but a lack of defensive value. He is an above-average contact hitter with advanced approach and on-base skills. He has good adjustability in his barrel and hits a variety of pitch types.

Just goes to show that the ownership is more interested in prospects than solid major leaguers. Why should the fans care anymore?

Jeff Passan of ESPN reported Tuesday that the Blue Jays are acquiring veteran second baseman Andres Gimenez in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians. The trade ends Gimenez’s time in Cleveland after four seasons.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic adds that the Blue Jays are sending RHP Nick Sandlin and infielder Spencer Horwitz back to the Guardians in the trade.

The lefty-hitting Gimenez, 26, is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner at the second base spot. He was also an AL All-Star for Cleveland in the 2022 season and hit .252 with nine home runs, 63 RBIs, and 30 stolen bases in 152 games last season.
