Cleveland Browns 2023 Edition

Kinda a misleading stat. NE & Tom Brady were usually a #1 or #2 seed with home field for most playoffs games. Flacco was on teams that won on the road but I think it’s fair to say Ray Lewis, Ed Reed & Terrell Suggs had a bit to do with those road playoff wins. I also think Flacco got probably 1/2 his playoff wins during the year the Ravens win the Super Bowl, I believe they were a wild card team that year.
But, still more than Big Ben. Nothing misleading about that.

You mean the same Ben Roethlisberger who is tied for 2nd on the list below?

Most wins by a starting qb at Cleveland Browns Stadium since 1999:

#1 Baker Mayfield: 18
#2 Ben Roethlisberger & Joe Flacco: 12
#4 Derek Anderson: 10
#5 Tim Couch: 8
#6 Andy Dalton and Brian Hoyer: 6
#8 Peyton Manning: 5

Nice try, but has absolutely nothing to do with the topic.

I agree, you brought up Roethlisberger because you didn’t like the valid point I made as to why Flacco has had more opportunities to win road playoff games than Brady. Your mentioning of Roethlisberger was petty….just like my posting of the list of winningest starting qb’s at Cleveland Browns stadium since 1999 was petty.

Of course it was petty. Isn't that why we are all fans? "Pettiness" is our middle name. :)

Feeling confident as the week goes on. Bummer about Hopkins though.

My only big concern is they come out flat because of the extended break and Houston, riding high off a last week playoff berth come out and shock us. But it could also have been just what we needed as well.

Pretty incredible turnaround by Houston this year, from 3 wins to 10 wins and a division title. I know the first game didn't have Stroud, and Flacco and Cooper are unlikely to air it out like a game of Madden on Rookie difficulty again, but that was a buttkicking beyond belief and I don't think Stroud is that much of a difference maker to close the gap that was clearly there in week 16. I hope I'm right. But if the Browns play just as well as they did in week 16, we should win, with our without Stroud on the other side.

Going to need a big game out of Jerome Ford. He's been all over the place this year but can really prove himself this week. With Chubb's injury and Kareem Hunt's age, and the unknown future associated with both, Ford has a chance this week, and hopefully a few more weeks, to prove himself as a long term member of this team.

Most important decision for next yr. will he get a job? Who will replace him?

Schwartz's spectacular season has generated whispers that the former Detroit Lions boss may one day desire a return to the head coaching ranks, which he confirmed to reporters Thursday morning.

“I love this organization. I love the city of Cleveland,” Schwartz said, effusively praising the atmosphere during the Browns’ playoff berth-clinching win over the New York Jets on Dec. 28. “In any job that you do, you always aspire to the top of that profession and I’m no different there.”

If they replace him with a Joe Woods type, then expect .500.
He does love it here. He was one of Bill’s “slappy’s” way back and I think that if Haslam has the good sense to make him the highest paid DC at 133% or so of the current high, it would have to be a great HC job to get him to leave. I don’t think he would rush into a ground up rebuild, at all, if he's well paid to do what he loves in a place that he appreciates.

Agreed. I think Schwartz is using it as a bargaining tool, which he deserves to do. I don't see any team without a coach having him as "the guy" right now. I know it was Detroit, but he was an average head coach at his very best. He also doesn't fit the mold of recent hires (super young, offensive minded, quirky/analytical). He's really the opposite.

Now if the Browns have a solid playoff run and then another monster season defensively next year, I can see teams beginning to line up for him. Just don't see it happening this offseason.

As a former DirecTV customer, can I mention again how happy I am with YouTube TV, especially since the game is on NBC tomorrow, which means DirecTV customers won't be able to watch it. And this is after they had a similar contract issue with Fox earlier in the year.
Amen to that - I remember the last contract dispute DirecTV had with Tegna (WKYC), we ended up watching Sunday Night Football games on Telemundo. Although there was an odd appeal to listening to the Spanish language commentators version of the game. ;)

ESPN writers' prediction:

Betting nugget: The Texans are 9-3 against the spread (ATS) in their past 12 meetings against the Browns.

Moody's pick: Texans 24, Browns 21
Walder's pick: Texans 23, Browns 16

With the NFL regular season over and the NFL playoffs upon us, like most outlets, PFT has started giving out its end-of-season awards.

On Thursday, they announced their in-house award for this year’s NFL Coach of the Year: Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski

Schwartz has been selected by PFT as their NFL Assistant Coach of the Year.

I have a blazing fast internet connection and I love YouTube TV for the most part. There is a delay on sports though. Not nearly as bad as a pirated stream or with other services, but still noticeable.

Also, if you have DirecTV, the game is on Telemundo. So you can watch on mute with the radio on or be entertained even more with the Spanish broadcasters.

The stream is maybe 30-45 seconds behind real time, really a non-factor. Only noticeable if you have the radio on to the game, which is pointless. Been a YT TV customer for years - it is the way to go...

Do you get Cavs or Guards games?

I specifically went with DirectTV because it was the only streaming service that wasn’t in a contract dispute with Bally’s. Any other streaming and I couldn’t watch the Guardians or Cavaliers. The deal with the Fox and NBC affiliates has been a pain, but at least temporarily getting Peacock was an easy fix to get NBC. There was no streaming option for Fox, which was frustrating as heck.

I have got DirecTV, and will be watching the Browns/Texans game on NBC. It is on
