The transition of power is a great place to start.

I'm hoping the swift and sound defeat allows for a smooth one. But, it is fact that Trump has set the precedent for the incumbent party to not willingly relinquish power. And, the Supreme Court has given the current administration even more power.

The serious debate of this thread is remarkable.

Flipping the page, there are a few Hope's I have.

First, can we put an end to the identity politics and devisive attitudes that keep America in turmoil? Part of the solution to this division will be those who voted for the Red party to be humble in victory. From my years in management of people, I know beyond any doubt the lack of respect shown to an individual or group will lead to pushback and rebellion. My thoughts and feelings and disgust for Obama this many years after his statements of "elections have consequences " and "sit in the back of the bus" remind me I do not want to be the impetus of such feelings from the other side.

Second, and I have little hope here, Trump can you please realize you got elected in spite of who you are?

Third, policy that keeps America safe, and unburdened by war abroad, is a major hope. Trump's arrogance is a huge concern in this area.

Sorry but on Yappi today we are going to gloat a bit.

Did you catch Trump's acceptance speech? He was gracious and called for unity. And I'm hearing that as much as 1/3 of Trump's votes may have come from people of color.

As for reasons to be optimistic. Consider the likely appointment of RFK Jr to a cabinet position. Even though he and Trump disagree on many things (Trump keeps warning RFK to not mess with his oil) elevating RFK Jr to an important position on food & health is an act I can't recall any recent POTUS doing.

Second, and I have little hope here, Trump can you please realize you got elected in spite of who you are?
This goes both ways. Has Harris called to congratulate Trump yet?

I don't share your concern here because I've lived through 4 years of a Trump presidency and it was arguably the more peaceful under Trump then it has been at any time since 1939.

I've been clear for months that my world would not crumble with another Trump term. Although, I do worry about younger Americans and Americans of color. I expect Trump will have a lot of social unrest to deal with.
Why are you worried about Americans of color? When all is said and done Trump will have secured more Hispanic votes (men & women) and more Black Men's votes then any Republican since at least 1960. Trump has done what the pandering RINO's over the last few election cycles have been unable to do - break the unearned fealty to the democrat party of large segments of Americans of color.

But this election, despite how the propaganda press tried to frame it, was not mostly about Donald Trump. The New York Times is at it again this morning, talking about Trump’s “cult of personality.” But Trump didn’t run on personality, he ran on the issues. He talked relentlessly and effectively about inflation, the border, and war and peace. True, he digressed more than some of us would have preferred, but his policy messages came through loud and clear.

It was the Democrats who tried to run on the cult of personality. The record of the Biden/Harris administration was indefensible, so they didn’t try to defend it. Harris avoided talking about the issues as much as possible, going so far, on multiple occasions, as to refuse to say what her position on an issue is. She was, as one pundit put it, the “no comment” candidate.

Instead of substance, the Democrats chose to run on personality and identity politics. Vote for Kamala because she is “kind” and “joyful”–never mind that she is such an obnoxious autocrat that she can’t keep a staff together. Also, vote for Kamala because she will be the first woman of color to be president. Whoopee. And most of all, of course, the Democrats tried to run against the personality of Donald Trump.

The first thing I do right now if I’m Trump is get JD talking in the media about assembling a Cabinet. Any way possible, get it in the news that exciting changes are coming.

We need to keep the focus on election security down-ballot and fight for every seat in the House of Representatives. If there is any chance at all that 5000 bogus ballots in some blue jurisdiction put a Democrat over the top, we have to find a way to test it. We need to find as AND EXPOSE as much cheating as possible and break the path for them to return.

You're assuming they have boyfriends.

So what? Are they going to rise up and overthrow Trump or just not let their boyfriends into bed for the next month.
The way it was explained to me, on paper, it's a tough pill to swallow when your country elects a convicted felon and libel rapist over a career professional woman.

Not my words, but I get it, and I felt it.

At the moment, the House is problematic ,with the Democrats headed to at least 220 seats and majority control. That will stop Trump on any legislation and keep him tied down with impeachment and investigations. Will Lara Trump redirect resources to save the House ? Will the State GOP orgs lay down to spite Trump? Even if the Dems prevail in the House, the resulting stalemate would be a victory in itself as doing nothing at least slows the progressive agenda.

That is 100% up to the Democrats.
Second, and I have little hope here, Trump can you please realize you got elected in spite of who you are?
But that isn't true.

Because of all the wars Trump's confidence caused in his first administration?

You have this backwards, I believe.

Clay & Buck just said that the Republicans have a 98% chance of keeping the house according to one of those betting sites.
