Calpreps Ratings/SOS/Predictions

OK, just want to be clear. The ratings have DLS #1 but predict they would lose to St. X.

So if you are in CA, you use them for the rankings, but ignore the Prediction function.
If you are an Ohio fan, you discout the rankings, but utilize the SOS info.
TX fans are ----- out unless you want to debate the Dyansty info.
FL fans just attack the whole thing, because computers hate FL.

Do I have it straight?

I guess you are making the point we all already knew...EVERYONE IS BIASED!!!

Pied, I think you've got it right. Actually, I had thought that one's superior ability to parse statistics, facts and arguments was a requirement to be issued a logon ID to this site.

That said, there are two who seem to do it better than most.

Pied, you are over complicating all of this.

1. Any ranking or statistic that reflects well on the poster's favorite team (or state) is accurate and good data.

2. Any stat or ranking that reflects poorly on a poster's favorite team (or state) is garbage.

3. Any stat or ranking that is posted by a poster you don't like (or a poster who supports a team you don't like) is stupid.

Actually, for some of us (or, at least, one of us) some posts are stupid, regardless of who posted them.

And some posters aren't worth explaining things to.

If I explained what should be obvious to every sweetie I deal with every day, it wouldn't leave as much time as I would like for other things.

But the fact that I don't explain why something is stupid does not mean it is not stupid.

And no, I don't plan to explain that.

well actually calpreps predicted DLS to lose to Centennial

and we know who the California Division 1 Champion is that took a mercy knee inside the 5 and won by 6

so similar prediction for Stx vs DLS probably similar result

Strangely I think I agree with every single point made on this thread and I have read it several times.

Weird

You are no fun at all.

There has GOT to be something you can agrue with somebody about on this thread. The least you can do is toss out an insult or two.

Ummmm......

My top three if anyone cares.

1. MNW-top team at the beginning of the year. Winning on the road over the best program over the past five years. Wins title in top football state. Close call to questionable team, but not enough so in my rankings to lose the spot.
2. St. X-finished brutal schedule unscathed. Couple of close calls, but more than enough to hold off DLS.
3. DLS-Wins in CA, looks to be close to old form. Didn't start high enough or do enough to overtake the top two. Unfortunately for the Spartans they are penalized for lower expecations to start off with. Based on their history, they do not care and are making new goals as we speak.

Notice your top 3 schools are either Private or open enrollement. All advantages that have not been afforded to TX. Even so, Katy - ST.X and DLS I consider to be all about the same.

I love how you always leave TX teams out With all your Unbiasedness - I actually think your view is slanted too far away from TX becuase you attempt to be unbiased. I don't see how you could watch ST. X and Katy play and not think they are about equal.

Booker T Washington is either the #2 team or they are lumped in there with Katy, ST. X and DLS.

Remember there is no such thing as a stupid post...There are just stupid people who decide to post.

I think any of the champions of the top divisions from the big 4 football states - Ohio, Florida, Texas and Cali can claim to have the best team in the nation and this year is no exception

Had SLC beaten MNW and won out I would have had them #1.

As far as rankings, they are different to me than who I may think might win the game or not. Who would you predict to win, Katy or Trinity? Who should be ranked higher?

Actually, UncleBaldy, that's how Riley Dodge spelled it once in a paper for freshman English.

Rather than entertain the possibility that young Riley might not be perfect, the Caroll ISD decided that "agrue" would be the correct spelling from then on for all Carroll students, teachers, staff, parents, and fans.

I disagree. You defined #3 as stat or ranking. I believe Chicago is stating that RD or the Carroll ISD is stupid.

Not the same thing.

Yes, but close enough for me. Most of his posts are like that. I'll stick with my #3 comment.

I was actually alluding to the fact that a lot of the SLC crowd can't stay off their knees near the SLC football players.

Wasn't there even a magazine article about how perfect everyone is (or was, anyway, before MNW and Abilene)?

Sorry to be blunt, but subtlety is lost on some (and I don't mean Pied).

I think the first comment is kind of the reason we all have thousands of posts on a HS football board. I would say we are in the upper echelon of geekdom for HS football.

Here is the artice you ar referring to.

http://www.dmagazine.com/ME2/dirmod.asp?sid=&nm=&type=MultiPublishing&mod=PublishingTitles&mid=7155F7796F354F21B1183937D847D6DF&tier=4&id=2E4662E89091450EA6D4A0FF01296094

I thought the article was tremendously unfair. It was not specific to the football team in my opinion. See this quote:

And the people on that Southwest flight to Lubbock? The majority of them aren’t even parents of football players. They are parents of band kids and cheerleaders, flying 300 miles across the state to watch a game Southlake will win easily, because Southlake doesn’t lose. Across the aisle from Herchman sit the parents of a Southlake drill teamer. They’re recent transplants from out of state and say all this Dragon stuff is overwhelming. The father laughs. “It’s almost like it’s brainwashing,” he says.

There are a lot more kids involved w/Band/Drill Team/Choir/Cross Country etc. than the football team. Most of the activites are done at a high level. There just are not as many message boards for those things.

Don't be so sure. Nothing is geekier than band.

I am sure there are some pretty hardcore band message boards.

Which is not to say I wasn't in band in junior high.
