This could be a race for the ages on Friday as 4 teams are already sub 7:42.

7:39.44 - Dublin Jerome (Region 3) - #5 school, #6 performance all-time
7:39.62 - Lexington (Region 2) - #6 school, #7 performance all-time
7:41.08 - Vandalia Butler (Region 4) - #12 school, #14 performance all-time
7:41.70 - Westerville North (Region 3) - #21 performance all-time (their school record is 7:39.91)

Could St. Xavier's 11-year old record of 7:36.33 from 2014 go down?

Keep an eye out for Lancaster in 2026/2027 as their current foursome is 1 junior, 1 sophomore, and 2 freshmen.

In the early 2000s Lakota East girls 4x800 finished second at state with 4 freshmen. I was looking forward to seeing what they would accomplish and they never made it back.

Do you have a top 30 list for the girls D1 4x800m that you could post simialrly? I think this one may be simiar with it being open and a blood bath with a number of teams capable of top 3-5

Here's the top-27 as I have them. Top-28 as I'm only recording times under 9:10, and only 28 teams have gone sub-9:10. Milesplit can give you more beyond this, but given their database pretty much ignores pre-2000, there may be some that won't show up.

IIRC, North Canton Hoover girls ran 9:09.45 at state 2010 to score an upset victory over Magnificat.

Only reason for me to know about that one is that I help maintain files for Stark County's all-time records as well as records for all 20 of the county's HSs. Additionally, I was coaching at a rival D3 school at the time the St. Thomas Aquinas runners were breaking all of our county's distance records, including Hoover's 4x8 record. Blew my mind how fast that STA 4x8 was with absolutely nobody pushing them in D3. As uber-competitive as those 4 girls were, I think they could've been a sub-9:00 quartet in the right field.

That must've taken some time to put together records for that many schools! I feel your pain!
 
It was an amazing race... results. There is a small club of teams who have run sub 7:40 and not won.
