Finneytown 64, Community Christian (KY) 45

Finneytown and 1st year Head Coach Brandon Robinson got their first win of the season (Robinson a 2009 FT grad). Finneytown had a strong 1st half Building a 33-17 Lead and never looked back. Leading the Wildcats was Brandon Wise w/14 pts , he added 9 board. Both Adrian Benton and Rashod Johnson chipped in w/ 10pts. the Wildcats will Host Lockland on Wednesday Dec 4th. (by @93 red ls)

Fairfield 65, La Salle 46

Despite losing two of their top three scorers to the transfer portal this offseason, Fairfield put together a complete game and avenged their loss to La Salle last year in both teams' season opener. Fairfield (1-0) built a double-digit lead by halftime and never allowed La Salle (0-1) back into the game. Fairfield's 6'10" senior center Gabe Clemmons posted a double-double, plus 3 assists, 3 steals, and a monster 6 blocks. Falcons senior guard Michael Lewis posted a career-high 22 points, while Daviawne Crim chipped in with 18 more. La Salle guard Pat McLaughlin, fresh off a regional finals appearance as the football QB, posted 14 points in the loss, while forward Max English added 10. (by @mrorcadood)

Lakota West 64, Withrow 30
Lakota West, a GMC title contender, opened their season against a Withrow team fresh off a bad loss to Oak Hills last weekend. Like the Highlanders, Lakota West (1-0) was able to handle Withrow (0-2) with ease, shutting out the Tigers 16-0 in the second quarter and building a 27-7 lead at halftime. Firebirds sophomore Josh Tyson was the star of the show, scoring 15 points with 7 rebounds, while senior LJ Green posted a near double-double. Junior Tyson Davis also scored in double figures off the bench. Withrow's Savion Davis came off the bench to score 11 points, doing most of his damage from beyond the arc, in the losing effort. West Clermont 80, Talawanda 28
West Clermont opened their season at home facing down a Talawanda team coming off two big losses to Monroe and Ross last week. It didn't get any easier for the Brave (0-3) as they were trounced by more than 50 by West Clermont (1-0), who scored over 25 points in each of the first two quarters as Talawanda narrowly avoided the pain of having a running clock start immediately in the 3rd quarter. Rayshawn Hubbard, the ECC's top scorer last year, began his senior season with a 24-point double-double, while junior guard Carson Duke added 17 and 5 steals, which helped contribute to West Clermont turning the Brave over 23 times in the contest. Wolves point guard Jyaiire Harper, a transfer from Withrow, scored 9 points in his first action with the Wolves. Talawanda's scoring leaders were Brayden Douglas and Sam Lippmann, who each scored seven. (by @mrorcadood)

Moeller 49, Stivers 38
In their second game of the season, Moeller found themselves facing a difficult challenge from a Stivers team that finished last season just 8-16. The Crusaders (2-0) trailed by five at halftime, but they managed to adjust and dominate the third and fourth quarters to beat the Tigers (0-1) by double digits. Alex Kazanecki again led the scoring for Moeller with 15, adding 6 rebounds and 4 steals, but also turned the ball over six times. Moeller senior forward Brady Franz matched his career-high (set last Saturday) with 13 points. Stivers' star of the game was senior guard Gavin Wright, who recorded 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. (by @mrorcadood)

Beavercreek 69, Hamilton 54
Looking to bounce back from a double-digit season-opening loss to Aiken, Beavercreek (1-1) did just that, pulling away in the second half to take down Hamilton (0-1). Isaiah-Michael Williams, the 2023 GWOC Player of the Year, posted his second straight 20-burger to open the season, scoring 23 points on 11-of-12 shooting. He was joined by three teammates in double figures: Kaden Ellerbe, Kaleb Bryant, and Owen Roether. The Beavers were also a very solid 14-of-20 from the free throw line. Hamilton was led by forward Peyton Davis, who scored 12 points, while freshman Jordon Johnson also reached double figures in his first career game. (by @mrorcadood)

Lebanon 51, Miamisburg 50
Freshman Jashawn Coffey was swarmed by his teammates Tuesday night after hitting two clutch free throws to lift Lebanon (1-0) to an upset victory over Miamisburg (1-1). Coffey, ranked by some outlets as a top-50 national prospect in the class of 2028, scored 29 points in his varsity debut and filled the shoes left by Anthony Thompson's transfer admirably, coming one point shy of Thompson's Lebanon career-high of 30. His performance helped overcome a big rebounding advantage for Miamisburg, who won the glass 33-21, mainly courtesy of 6'9" senior center Andrew Hoerner, who pulled down 19 rebounds (8 offensive) to go along with his 23 points in the loss. Springfield Catholic Central 70, Northeastern 63
The Irish (0-1)went on the road for their first OHC league game of the season. Northeastern (0-1) coming off a bad loss to Dixie on the road. This game became a classic battle of Irish size against the Jets quickness. It became apparent the Irish attack was going to be inside out and the Jets wanted to press force turnovers and get the ball down the floor quickly. This got them an early lead. But the Irish settled in made a few threes and lead at the end of the first quarter. But Central never could put NE away. Brett Lough was a big part of the reason for that as he had 16 of the Jets 34 at half while the Irish lead by five. The second half the Irish put some distance between the teams,they held Lough to only 4 in the entire second half and cut down the turnovers. Zac Thompson lead the Irish with 15 points and several blocks. (by @shoprat2)

Tallmadge 73, Ellet 54
Tallmadge led by 1 point after a fast paced first quarter. The second quarter, Tallmadge scored 24 points thanks to several fast breaks on Ellet turnovers. Ellet was able to close the gap to as low as 8 points in the second half before Tallmadge pulled away again to win by 19 points. Senior Kaden Davis of Tallmadge scored his 1000th career point early in the 4th quarter. He also led the Blue Devils is scoring with 19 points. Trey Kersten added 17. Paul Rusinko and his brother Chad Rusinko both scored 13. Terrence Parker was the leading scorer for Ellet with 15 points. Brandon Knowles added 14 and Terel Karim tallied 11. (by @Yappi)

Milford 73, Goshen 65 (OT)
In a hotly contested battle between a young Milford squad and a Goshen team looking to bounce back from a season-opening loss to Lakota East, it was the Eagles who pulled out an overtime thriller, 73-65. Milford (1-0) was led by Loveland transfer forward Avery Pence, who came off the bench to post 20 points and 9 rebounds (both career-highs) and hit the game-tying 3 with seven seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime. Milford would then shut Goshen out for the first 3 minutes of the overtime period. Milford's top returning scorer Sloan Gormley added 19 and Deer Park transfer Cam Arington scored 17 for the Eagles. Goshen was led in scoring by Graham Roark, who scored 17 points on 4-of-13 shooting, all of which were threes. (by @mrorcadood)

Mariemont 74, Blanchester 25
The warriors had a huge night on the hardwood and got scoring contributions from 11 of the 12 Varsity guys! Mariemont got started early w/ building a 27-6 lead in the 1st quarter. Leading scorer on the night (and ending with a double double) was Sam Stalzer he finished w/11pts and 10 board. Tyler Graham and cooper Matarese both added 10pts. The warriors will be back in action Friday night as they host CHL rival Indian Hill. (by @93 red ls)

Wyoming 67, Batavia 28
Wyoming starts off the season 2-0 with a huge 39 point victory over Batavia. Kellen Wiley and Devin Gray both scored 16pts. Billingsley added 10pts. The cowboys had a 20+ pt lead at halftime and ended the 3rd qtr up 59-23. Bright spot for Batavia was Ryan Brose who scored 16 for the Bulldogs. The cowboys will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Madeira to take on the Mustangs. (by @93 red ls)

St. Xavier 64, Mason 29
The St. Xavier Bombers, fresh off a 2-0 start to the season over the weekend, continued to look like a buzzsaw as they handily defeated Mason, 64-29, on Tuesday night. The Bombers (3-0) have not given up 40 points to any of their three opponents so far, and Mason (0-2) only reached double digit scoring in one quarter. St. X dominated Mason on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 30-12. Donovan Waleskowski continued his hot start to the season for the Bombers with 23 points and another five three-pointers sunk. Junior guard Luke Sorce also came off the bench to score a career-high 13 points in the contest. No Mason player managed to score more than six points. (by @mrorcadood)

Aurora 66, Hudson 62 (OT)
Aurora won in a thrilling overtime game at Hudson High School on Tuesday night after trailing by 5 at the half. Zach Pannetti led the Greenmen in scoring with 16 points. Also scoring double digits for Aurora were Johnny Trivisonno with 15, Brock Habbyshaw with 13, and Luke Bonnette with 10. Hudson's Caleb Fitz led the Explorers with 16 points. (by @Yappi)

Wooster 69, Wadsworth 46
Wadsworth's boys basketball team lost their season opener to Wooster 69-46, struggling with poor shooting despite a decent defensive effort. Cold shooting plagued Wadsworth throughout, starting 0-for-5 before a 3-pointer by Jude Kapusinski (12 points). While they hung close in the first quarter (19-13), a dismal second quarter (only 4 points) saw them fall behind significantly (36-17). Wooster's Anthony Carmean (17 points) and Brady Bowen (17 points) led the charge. Wadsworth improved in the third and fourth, mounting an 11-0 run fueled by their defense and a trap, but Wooster's Drew Thomas (13 points) helped them pull away again. Despite their defensive improvements in the second half, their 18-for-55 shooting performance ultimately sealed their defeat. (by @Yappi)

Cloverleaf 70, Springfield 30
Cloverleaf's basketball team dominated Springfield 70-30 in their season opener, securing a Metro Atlantic Conference victory. They were fueled by a dominant 25-4 run in the first and second quarters, largely due to forcing turnovers and converting them into points. The team's balanced scoring saw five starters reach at least eight points, with Marty Moran leading with 14 points, six rebounds, and six assists, and Zak Brownson adding 12 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Isaac Smith also tallied 12 points. Anthony Berger was the leading scorer for Springfield with 13 points. Cloverleaf will host Coventry on Thursday night. (by @Yappi)

Deer Park 74, Norwood 36
The Deer Park Wildcats opened the season up facing off vs the Indians of Norwood! DP was ready from the opening tip and built a 22-4 lead in the 1st qtr. By half time DP lead by 30+ pts. (40-15) It was a HUGE night for Antonio White as the Junior racked up 35 pts for the Wildcats on 16/22 shooting. He added in 9 steals and 4 boards as well! Tahj Ingram chipped in w/18 pts for Deer Park. Deer park will host the Yellow Jackets on Sat in an early season CHL matchup! (by @93 red ls)

Elder 46, Turpin 37
Elder received a much-needed boost to their lineup coming off a 20-point loss to Northridge in the form of star Cam Williams returning from a foot injury. Despite this, Elder's offense remained stuck in mud for much of their second game against the Turpin Spartans, who rattled off a 14-0 run in the second quarter and threatened to run away with it. However, Williams showed off his talent with a 9-0 personal run spanning the 3rd and 4th quarters that gave Elder (1-1) the lead for good over the Spartans (0-1). Williams scored 15 points in total alongside 4 steals, but teammate Alex Dugan was perhaps even better, finishing with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Senior guard Dylan Palicki chipped in a career-high 10 points for the Panthers.

The win was a monumental one for Elder HC Joe Schoenfeld, as he secured his 500th career victory having coached the Panthers for over 30 years. (by @mrorcadood)

Madeira 52, Cincinnati Trailblazers 38
The mustangs started off the 24/25 Campaign under new HC Brian Kellett w/ a 52-38 win over the Cincinnati Trailblazers. Madeira closed the 1st half with a double digit lead (28-15). The TB did have a strong 3rd quarter out scoring Madeira 14-12 but were able to close out the game with a solid 4th quarter. Leading scorer for the Mustangs was Eli Beck who scored 21 pts off the bench (9-10 from the field) and Senior Aiden Hopewell added 11pts for the Mustangs. They will host the Cowboys of Wyoming this Friday! (by @93 red ls)
