Ah, we are entering the "peak boredom" period of the college football offseason. Time to try and jump start some discussion about the upcoming Big 10(18) season. 2024 sees the addition of four former PAC 12 teams and the opportunity to qualify more than one school in the new 12 team playoff. So maybe the best question to ask is who qualifies for the CFP rather than who wins the conference championship.

Ohio State and Oregon are obvious choices, but Michigan, PSU, USC, and Washington cannot be discounted. Even Nebraska, Iowa, Rutgers, and Wisconsin have reason for optimism. Could 4 teams from the Big make it?

So cast your votes and please offer your thoughts in the comments.

The league is way too big. All leagues are way too big now. Schedules are not apples to apples. These are the "vs. the big dogs", the rest are who cares games.

Michigan: Texas, USC, Washington, Oregon, AT osu
osu: Iowa, Oregon, PSU, home vs. Michigan.

There is no comparison between the 2 schedules. (IMHO).
osu is in.
Michigan will battle and has a shot, but the path is 100% harder.
Just making an observation. Now let the rebuttals begin....

Really the only game that makes TCUN schedule harder is the non-con against Texas.

Wrong. (USC/Washington, and AT osu) is much tougher than Iowa and PSU, and Michigan at scolumbus. (yes the Iowa team that has no idea what an offensive TD is and PSU that still has a serious QB issue). Then throw in the Texas game. (which by the way does matter based on the title of the thread: which Big10 teams qualify for the CFP in 2024. But I forgot, you osu fans are good at making the rules to fit your agenda and deciding which games matter and which don't). And the 2 schedules regarding making the 2024 CFP aren't even close. Good try though.

The same ESPN that screws up preseason polls every year. Those are just opinions. Just like your opinion and my opinion. Many times the average fan is smarter than the "so called experts". That is a fact. So the medias opinion means zero to me. And you said that the Texas game was the only thing that made it harder. And we can agree to disagree. So there a 4 reasons why Michigan's schedule is harder.
1. THE game is in scolumbus, not Ann Arbor.
2/3. USC/Washington is harder games than Iowa/PSU.
4/ The Texas game.

And very classy with your C. Not surprised one bit. Typical of you.

The FPI isn’t an opinion. It’s a formula

He's just an internet troll who can't backup in real life what he says on a message board.

1. Lots of game in Ann Arbor, she's still a whore

Garbage in, garbage out. Means nothing other than computer garbage and a computer opinion based on man fed garbage.
Best part of all of this is I said TCUN have a harder schedule. TCUN fans are hilarious. Where were any of you before Covid? Wherever you were you will be heading back there.

hey tough guy. I’ll be in Hilton Head in a couple months. How about we get a beer? Well , I’ll have a beer and you’ll probably have a seltzer or something along those lines. Then you can find out how tough I am

I would say it is about time Michigan played somebody with a pulse in a OOC game. The only name team they played OOC in the last three years was Wahington in 2021. Washington was horrible and went 4-8 that year.

Too bad OSU didn't follow Michigan run and hide plan and didn't schedule Oregon in 2021. Beat Notre Dame in 2023. Beat Notre Dame and Toledo in 2022.(y)

The only one for sure is Ohio State, which will be double digit favorites in all of their games. I think Oregon is down, Michigan obviously will be. Penn State is ok but they'll find a way to lose 3 games. The problem with evaluating the big ten now is so few teams will play the other good teams in the league.

Oregon should be by far the best of the newbies. Have recruited very well, and have spent big in the transfer portal to fill the holes such as at QB.

In the periodic spring/summer preseason ranking forecasting I've seen them as high as 2nd and no lower than 5th. They should strongly compete to win the league.

The Cleveland. Com 2024 Big 10 Preseason Football Poll is out.

No surprises, but are there any sleepers in the list that could surprise? Penn State? Iowa? Is Michigan being disrespected?

When was the last time Michigan played a strong out of conference team? Been quite a few years.
