Best Players in Cincinnati?

Some others to consider:

Gannon Kast - Sycamore
Steve Krall - Indian Hill
Vince Catino - Moeller
Patrick Poplis - St. Xavier
Jordy Kamp - St. Xavier

All-City

Top 5 is hard in a sport with such distinct positions and job descriptions. I will attempt an offensive and defensive list and see if I can arrive at an all city team.

Attack:

Sean Finegan
Jordy Kamp
Gannon Kast

Middie:

Luke Kuechly (f/o)
Anderson Morgan (off.)
Connor Carrol (off.)
???? (off.)

Gerry Reilly (def.)
??? (def.)
??? (def.)

Defense:

Patrick Poplis
???
???
Steve Krall (g.)

*Ok, so, not really any new names here and I didn't get very far. Obviously I have not seen much lacrosse outside of the best teams in D.1. But, those teams are the best in the city for a reason. Anybody have any considerations from the lower seeds and divisions?

Sean Finegan - Moeller
Luke Kuechly - St. Xavier
Gerry Reilly - St. Xavier
Nikki Keriakes - Indian Hill
Drake Peterson - Mariemont

This question is always difficult as most players on the starting line-ups of all the D-1 teams have made key contributions to their teams. That having been said I would add..

Anderson Morgan - Moe(wicked shot!)

Connor Caroll - Moe( has been an awesome weapon for Moe and an excellent team player)

Alex Hofrichter - Moe ( 2nd in assists and excellent on riding defense. has been a game changer on more than one occasion)

Benny Kreinik - Sycamore( Kast may be their powerhouse, but have you seen his numbers?!)

Cory Bauer - Moe (look for him to be the best attack in Cincinnati next year)

Ross Lockwood - Indian Hill ( through the teams struggles, Ross has been their strongest defender by far)

So this list continues to grow. It is great to have so many talented players in our Region.

Wow. That got me thinking. In the X home games I have seen this year, Kamp's had some impressive stat lines against some good teams. In addition to UA

Dublin Scioto 3 goals, ?? assists (was big part of the comeback)
Indian Hill 3, ??? (game winner)
Western Reserve 3, ???
Ann Arbor PC 3, ?? (game winner)
Moeller 4, 2

If I recall, quite a few of those were righty and I'd be willing to bet he's good for 2 assists/game.

Dublin Scioto 3 goals, 2 assists
Indian Hill 1, 0
Western Reserve 2, 1
Ann Arbor PC 2, 1
Moeller 4, 0

Jordy has 31 goals and 10 assists. Stanislaw has 40 and 30. Connor Buczek (freshman) has 20 and 13.

how good is will mclanahan from milford? ive heard talk about him but is he the real deal?

on a side note are there any big offers for players in cincinnati?

How can you give Kechely the best faceoff man in the city when he is not even the best on his team... in my opinion fitzpatrick is way better

He is very good and only a Jr. He has a good touch around the net and understands the game. He is fun to watch.

Moeller - Sean Finegan, Delaware.
Moeller - Alex Hofrichter, Stevens Institute of Technology.

Moving to next level

Also moving on to play next year at college level from Moeller-

Conner Carroll- Lynchburg (great program)
Anderson Morgan- Mt. St. Joe (for Pat Kennedy former Moe LAX star)
Billy Yates- Rollins (in Fla- he also water skis competitively)

All are D3 programs so not sure what type of scholarship packages they received but congrats to all in continuing their lax careers in college.

X Daddy - Where are the X kids going? Anyone with knowledge of any others.. please let everyone know.

I know Justin Mahoney (Mason) is going to a DIII school in the Northeast, just do not know which one.

Under rated attackmen

Looking at some of the posts above I would have to say that 3 of the most under rated players in Cinci this year have to be Blake Stanislaw (St. X), Alex Hofrichter (Moeller) and Ben Kreinik (Sycamore).

X doesn't post stats (that I've ever seen) but Stanislaw has to be leading the team with the 70 points noted above. He's small but very smart and quick around the goal and pretty efficient from what I've seen. Clearly a playmaker with 30+ asst on season. Just doesn't have the big, flashy shot of a Kamp or Buczek.

Hofrichter plays a similar game- great awareness around the crease and a good feeder (~30 this year, 2nd to Finegan and close to top 10 for Moeller all time after only 2 years playing varsity). He's a tough, heads-up player who has made some game changing rides/ steals for Moe in big games (remember the X game with the goalie steal and score that started Moe's other comeback win...)

Krienik is another quick, smart player who makes alot of nice feeds to set up the big scorers for the Aves. He's at like 30 asst and over 80 pts this season so big numbers that get overlooked with Kast's scoring frenzy. Admittedly the sycamore stats are inflated based on number of games and weak schedule but the kid is a player.

None of these guys plays the star role in their lines but are huge contributers on the things that make their teams successful (and usually are backing up the big shots from their teammates to keep the ball in their hands...)

Good post....Who is the FOGO for Sycamore? That guy is awesome....

i cannot believe how many junior players were left out, you need to add

moeller: corey bauer, jimmy feissinger, andrew urban, billy wersel

IH: charlie lappin, kain meurer, andy pipes, ted bolser

X: luke kuechly, chris shumrick, patrick poplis

mariemont: mitch white

Definitely listed Corey Bauer in a previous post... He will be Moe's #1 attack. Look for Urban to move to attack next year. He should produce big #'s . Ted Bolser? maybe. Have seen many Ih games and not a whole lot from the other guys you mentioned.... No doubt Keuchly and Poplis are great players and will definitely make this same list next year....All in good time!

And I did list kuechly, because he is by far the most physically gifted player in the region and for a first year lsm is pretty amazing...considering his first team all-midwest honors.
It's been interesting to watch him this year... I had my doubts, quite honestly, about the plan to play him at LSM this year. But he has really done a great job there.

It's kinda strange to see a guy who's part FOGO, part LSM. Constantly switching back and forth from pole to short stick. He's a tremendously versatile athlete.

Credit Coach Collura for an innovative plan that worked well. Thinking outside the box. Very creative. Great coach.

I was at the Moeller v. IH game yesterday, and all of the IH guys that I mentioned played very solid, Charlie Lappin won almost every face off and had numerous ground balls, Ted Bolser had 4 goals I believe and a pair of assists, Andy Pipes shut down Corey Bauer, and Kain Meurer had one or two goals. I think that is saying something laxman5. From what I have heard, they have played consistently all year.

you can't even mention jimmy feissinger in the top juniors he can't even pick up ground balls, or run down the field cradling in his left hand. But given that Andrew urban, and cory Bauer are good players and will for sure be some of the top seniors next year, and billy wersel was ok this year, but injury did effect him a bunch this year

what are u watching?

Totally disagree "OldTimer"- Feissinger did a great job for Moe on defense this year considering his experience and past playing time. While Hubbard and Yates are "beasts" and both have great stick skills and strong checks, in the Moeller games I watched Feissinger played some of the best position defense on the team- moving his feet well and keeping his guy out of prime shooting zones. He was also very effective in clears, rarely throwing bad pass or turning ball over in transition.

The flashy defense and left handed cradling down the field looks cool but isn't their job- keeping attack guys from getting slam dunks on your goalie is! As for groundballs, all 3 of Moeller's starting defenders had between 40 and 50 on the season so less than 5 between Feissinger and 2 all region/ all midwest/ all state honorees.

Given there's little glory in playing long pole in high school lacrosse (no one keeps takeaway stats and ground balls get little attention) let's not tear down some of the hardest working guys on the field without a darn good reason.
