Yes.Embarrassing!
By rule, there has to be. That isn't up for debate.I wonder if there will be suspensions for the players leaving the bench to come on the floor
If you let it go, it will be worse next time. Put a book mark here and let's see how the season goes.Seems like there wasn’t suspensions as multiple girls that were involved haven’t missed games based on box scores. Anyone know what was decided?
You really think everything you just wrote doesn't happen? You haven't attended a pre-season parent meeting in awhile apparently. There are policies at every school for everything you mentioned. Some thoughts, I wonder if this was going on earlier. The shorter girl guarding the post who started it really there wasn't much there, she got sealed and then just started pushing. Here is where I feel administratively this can be handled somewhat. First of all, at the preseason meeting, make it abundantly clear there will be no fighting, if it happens, such and such will happen. Also, NO PARENTS are to enter the floor unless instructed by the official or coach. Finally, students - automatic suspension and other things if you leave your seat and go on the floor. Luckily this was a low attended girls game, but this is a scary sitution. You have people running up and no one knows if you're there to make peace or sucker punch someone. Look up Rudy Tomjonavich/ Kermit Washington.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to publicize that to keep others from doing the same thing? You all shouldn't assume that nothing is being done. Keyboard warrior combined with ignorance is a bad combo. I believe that in order to not have to forfeit games, some suspensions are being served spaced out over time. That's what I heard at least and I know the OHSAA has allowed that in the past with other similar incidents.
You are correct that I’m sure there are things being done, but why should the OHSAA care if games are forfeited due to lack of players. You really think everything you just wrote doesn't happen? OHSAA probably cares because causing forfeits to occur hurts opponents who were not responsible for the incident. They lose the opportunity to play the game. You are correct that I’m sure there are things being done, but why should the OHSAA care if games are forfeited due to lack of players.
The rule is pretty clear, don’t fight or get suspended. Doesn’t McKinley have young players on a JV team that can play so they don’t forfeit? Why should McKinley get to play girls against some teams, not others.
If I’m a federal league opponent, I would hate to lose to Mck against players that should be out and effect my league title chances.
I think that on this one, suspend the players and teacher them when you make poor decisions, you don’t get out of it based on poor timing.
You can go on St V website and see the preseason parent video that is posted. Lot's of sportsmanship cliches thrown around but nothing about fighting or spectators entering the court is addressed. Love the AD reclining in his chair drinking his coffee during the presentation. nice touchYou really think everything you just wrote doesn't happen?
