A’s had some really good teams. I don’t think they ever drew that well however. I went to a game at the Coliseum in the 80s when I was in the area for business. I don’t recall who they played. It was part of my plan do see a game in every stadium. I was getting close and then the cities started tearing down stadiums and building new ones.

It looks like they had some pretty solid attendance in the periods when they were playing good baseball (1988-92, 2001-07), but less so in leaner times. I imagine that trend isn’t unlike other smaller-market teams. It’s just been badly exacerbated by an outdated stadium that has zero entertainment surrounding it, and the owner’s willful cheapness, unwillingness to spend to keep guys around, and public dalliance with moving the team.

It’s true, it’s true. Trust me …

I wasn’t around to see some of these guys play, but how is Reggie Jackson omitted while Bill North makes it?

It’s true, it’s true. Trust me …

Not sure I would make changes at SS and 3B, but Miguel Tejada and Eric Chávez get an honorable mention from me. They were both great players in their prime and Tejada even won AL MVP in 2002.

I assume this play is what makes Mr. Canseco an A's HOF outfielder, even though he was with the Rangers at the time. I saw this game live. My favorite part about this was after the game when a reporter asked Julio Franco, also with the Rangers at the time, if he had ever seen anything like it and Julio said "Yeah, in the cartoons!" :)

A list that does not include Reggie Jackson cannot be taken seriously. Bill North?

Miguel Tejada was MVP. Also needs to be on the list - better than both of the middle infielders that you listed.

Campaneris 2,249 hits

Tejasa 2,308 hits

Dick Green 5 years with KC and 8 seasons wih Oakland Starter at 2B and 3RD for Oakland World Series Champs 1972, 1973 and 1974.

Always loved the unis in the early '70s too, nice contrast to the more conservative unis of their WS opponents.

typical. Stick to writing in your diary about meaningless home runs and misspell the names there.

North cannot hold a candle to Reggie. Campy cannot hold a candle to Tejada.

Disagree about Campy. Agree about Reggie. If Campy played in Tejada's era of inflated offense I'm sure his numbers would be better, but in his era he was a great SS.

It's your list however, how can you not have Reggie Jackson on that list? Must be personal? His # is retired by Oakland, he's a Hall of Famer and North or Canseco can touch his accomplishments.

Reggie Jackson is a clear omission, although I think many mainly remember him with the Yankees.

Jason Giambi as DH. Only played 6-7 years with the As but was MVP, won the silver slugger and avg 20 hrs and 100 RBIs if I recall.

Seeing these posts makes me sad that the A's with such a rich history, is moving. Look I get it, it's business and Vegas will support the A's much more than the Oakland has the last several years.

To me one of the lesser appreciated A's and probably overall is pitcher Dave Stewart. He was a stud in the late 80's early 90's on those Henderson/ McGuire/ Conseco A's teams. He was their ace. I believe he also had some success with the Blue Jays after that. He had that scowl and tough look, but the high pitched voice.
